Player Plot + Intel Opportunity: Attempting to Posses Asti and Force Malicant out

Spoilers: It won't work. But Wan is going to try anyway. ((Also, actual spoilers for the Avatar Universe if you aren't caught up on that.))

That's right, Wan, being both an Avatar and someone who doesn't always think his actions through, is going to attempt to merge with the Great Turtle Asti that everyone is riding on and force Malicant out. Since, you know, two spirits can't possess the same creature at one time. Or so the logic goes. And he's going to fail pretty miserably because even an Avatar isn't powerful or strong enough to connect to Asti so directly. The turtle is too old and his consciousness too strung out across the cosmos.

However! The mods have told me that should Wan try this, there's a chance we can get some IC info on the 'final battle'. Including (though possibly not limited to) where and how it should be fought.

While normally this would be an undertaking Wan would attempt to do alone, because he's brash like that, he doesn't actually know how to go about trying to attempt this. His canon point is right when he and Raava fuse to become the Avatar as we know it. He has no experience with being an Avatar except what little he's gotten in game. So he's going to need some help figuring this out. He's also very likely going to need help getting enough power to actually attempt it.

How can someone find out enough to offer help/get in on this without completely telegraphing the attempt to Malicant?

Wan will be bringing his plan up ICly to Michelangelo in one of Mikey's nighttime stalking visitations. If Bing is up for spreading it that way, characters involved in that should be able to find out.

Wan will also be speaking privately to Aang and Korra, because they're Avatars and might know more about this than he does.

And Wan will be taking this to Hawke, Valdis, Dante, and Zatanna directly in the next few days ICly because he's going to need help and he trusts them enough to ask for help.

At the moment I'm going to assume they're all up for sharing, but that's really up to them and how IC it would be for them to do so. But I'm hoping that will be enough venues to give anyone who wants to get in on this a chance to do so without breaking who/what would be IC for Wan to talk to and share with. Once a character knows about it, they are free to seek Wan out directly - he will not discuss this over the network and will shut down any conversations that try to broach it there.

What actually needs to be accomplished to pull this off?

Wan needs to be sure he has enough cosmic (or other) energy pouring through him in the Avatar State that he can attempt to physically merge himself with Asti - likely at the Turtle's Head. Unless someone else has other ideas for a better location to try it at.

Some more investigation at the Palace would be good to see if there's any information on how possessions in this universe actually work so the chances of 'success' are higher. Something Wan definitely can't do on his own.

Anything else you guys can think of that might be helpful - suggestions for ways people can get involved that I haven't thought of would be awesome!

How will characters get the info this is supposed to bring?

The mods have not told me that. Just that this has the opportunity to provide it on an IC level. I'm personally hoping that there will be a psychic wave/backlash from Wan being rejected by Asti/Malicant that gives people visions of the important things. But I just don't know yet.

I was actually thinking something along the same lines (using Valdis' power) and was just about to take it to the mods. Valdis would definitely be willing to help Wan though. It also might give me an excuse to get her into the ritual chamber.

Man...if this were Post Canon Aang he would totally try to Spirit Bend Malicant right out of Asti. Alas.

You've got Mike's support, and possibly Aang's, though again I don't know how much help the little guy will be.

Wan will have Dante's support. He can probably tell anyone who doesn't have direct CR with Wan, since he's going on something of an info-sharing spree himself once I know how his thread with Malicant plays out.

Also, I'd have to take this up to the mods because Dante has never been seen doing this himself, but characters from his canon can temporarily lend power to each-other, and he's sitting on a fairly large reserve of demonic power that he can probably pour into Wan, at least for a few minutes. However, as I said, this is something I'd have to take up with the mods first.

Iroh would be happy to help, though he has no idea how. Normally he might think such an idea is going to end badly but... he's worried about Zuko, so he's a bit more inclined to be reckless.

(Either of my other characters would be interested, but probably useless. Tazendra could be a distraction*, but she's also used to drawing power from things, and has a kedan-made filter that allows her sorcery, rather than a normal powered link. Zel has one of Asti's boons, so would offer that as a connection. Both want to beat Malicant into the curb, and I don't think there's room for all three.)

* Read: ask her to blow up enough things that Malicant has to focus on her. Sadly (well, more like fortunately), she lacks the bloodline or the soul to summon raw chaos into the world.

Ok, so I talked to the mods and was told to fill you in on it.

In the Anton/Valdis fight thread, Valdis was going to take Anton's soul via the void. But she didn't and in this discovered that she could enter someone's soul without taking it. Entering someone's soul allows her to see their essence and get more information about them than soul sight allows. She would be attempting to see if Tu Vishan is still present within the being that is Asti/Malicant. She might attempt this in addition to helping Wan, but just as Wan's attempt would fail, so would hers.

In another plot point, she might try to go below the turtle's shell in order to interact with Asti/Malicant's soul (but still fail). (I discussed this part with Makari already)

A little belatedly, I'd love for Raine to at least find out this is going on. I don't think she has anything directly to contribute? Except possibly with whatever Valdis is doing, or an extra helping of healing if something goes horribly horribly wrong, if you think that might be at all helpful. But she'd really like to know it's a thing that's happening.

Regardless I think it's a fabulous idea and I'm looking forward to whatever you guys pick up.

I definitely want to get Tony in on this (I'm also discussing with the mods the possibility of something horrible happening to him in the aftermath).

What kind of "energy" can Wan absorb for this endeavor? Because Tony definitely has a ton of energy to spare, I'm just not sure, uh, repulsor energy is exactly what Wan's looking for.

He can recalibrate the repulors to some extent, and I can also discuss with the mods if Anton's sigils could possibly be used to transmute the energy into something useful to Wan.

If that's not workable, Tony could certainly at least be around for backup/support/defense.
