CR With Me | May 2014

Hello, chelonauts! Time to kickstart some new plots and schemes for our characters leading into our summer season.

When it comes to our CR meme, we do ask that you be as specific as you can! 'Our characters should team up to moon Evandau' is going to help establish an idea of what sort of CR you're looking for better than 'omg tag me.' We're still using the modified form, including the two sections titled "Current Status" for a summary of what your character's been up to and "CR Goals" for the plotting and discussion of gaps in your character's CR spectrum that you would like to fill!

CR With Me Form:

I really do mean anything, I'm the type of person that prefers a more fluid approach to CR, like finding a reason for two characters to be in the same room and seeing how they naturally bounce off of each other, and what develops from that. But, erm, types of CR, let's see...

As I said, Armin doesn't have much of a purpose on Keeliai right now, so he could use a mentor-type character to guide him. He's also kind of mentally unstable, and I've always wanted to play him against someone who understands at least a little about psychology. While Armin can make enemies, he is generally on the side of "humanity" and as he is currently in canon (although I hope to update him soon) he is loathe to hurt "innocents" so you would have to be super evil to get on his shit list. So maybe negative CR would be difficult to make.

But even just something as simple as a friend is fine, he kind of... doesn't really have any close friends anymore, though he's trying to reach out.

I like the organic approach to CR myself, but it does matter which flavor you want to go with. Still, if it's purpose you want, probably either of mine could do reasonably for mentoring.

Lois needs purpose to things she does, and is a little more abrasive, but if it's a more 'here become a normal person and have hilarious adventures on the side' type thing you'd like, she'd probably be good for it. The psychology part, maybe less so, but she's pretty down-to-earth and I think is a reasonable 'anchor in reality' type. And the radio might be purpose-inducing in some way, if you think it would fit Armin.

Septimus is setting out to try to get things more organized, so he could also be a solid source of purpose. Plus he might work well as a mentor figure too. He's got a habit of persuading/leading people in canon, so that might work well. Even before then there's always helping at the hospital he can recruit for. At the moment as he's going to make a point of trying to know more people somewhat more personally he's a better source of light conversation until he dragoons them into service.

So either could work; Lois is more tetchy, Septimus is more straightforward and gentle but also... while sincere, at some level he will use people for the greater good. Treat them as people and not tools, but he will use them all the same. So take your pick.

EDIT: As I read above, the knowing Kedanese would actually come in enormously useful to Septimus, especially if Armin also knows English. Would Armin like a vaguely secretarial position which would end up with him working fairly closely with Septimus and the hospital staff?

Those are both very tempting options! Armin getting involved in the radio just sounds cool, since he's the type that likes to formulate plans and make speeches. But I think in a people sort of way, Armin might get along better with Septimus. He's very used to taking commands and being ordered around and is comfortable with being a "tool" from being in the Recon Corps. Even if he noticed Septimus treating him that way, he would be fine with it. It would probably be a welcome relief.

Also Armin is 100% happy to help anyone with his translation powers! I've also found it makes a wonderful icebreaker. He used to help out Bianca with the hospital sometimes too, before she left, so he's slightly familiar with Eshai Memorial.

edit way later: I also really like Septimus' username, "survival isn't living" is sort of a theme in AoT, half on Armin's inspiration to fight in canon is to break past the walls and no longer live like "livestock in a pen of humiliation". He narrates the anime and says it like, every episode in the intro lol.

Cool. Then yeah, I'd say Armin and Septimus sound like a good combination. The hospital has an open log, so if you want to toss Armin that way we could start a thread there, or just do a new log for those two.

Or if you want to wait for June because AC, that works too.

(Septimus's username comes from an observation about him made many years later, and, well, complicated thoughts and feelings on the subject but it's the dual bright-and-dark sides of 'bright side: fierce joy in life and exploring it' and 'dark side: yes, he definitely lived--survival, not so much.')

Lol, I'm still trying to make MAY ac, so I'd love to dive in right away. Do you have a link to said log?
