Test Drive Meme | March 2014

Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.
How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
- Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles.
- Tag around with everyone!
- Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle!
- Maybe even reserve so you CAN live on the back of a turtle!
But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
- A Chance Meeting at the Turtle's Head.
Remember, being here causes a great sense of-- well, shall we say inner peace. - Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtleshell! - Have Met Before? Because I Could've Sworn I've Seen You In My Dreams.
Have you wandered into the realm of Dreaming via an archway in Keeliai? Here, everything is shaped to your character's individual mind. Dreams can be shared between characters and will result in a meshing of minds. These dreams can be positive or negative, depending on your character. - Dramatic Chase Sequence!
You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children, or even one of the newest editions to Keeliai's menagerie, an incredibly affectionate turtle the size of a minivan! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...? - Spring Fling!
Apparently the kedan take the "starting anew" aspect of spring very seriously and have started showing their appreciation for flowers and lovely weather by kissing everyone they across! Neither age nor gender seem to play a factor (though the children will instead get kisses atop their heads, because they're not that weird) but you might find yourself liplocked with a random stranger just for walking down the street. - WILDCARD!
Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the need to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Please note, Wildcard options are also what you can choose to do if you aren't yet comfortable in the Tu Shanshu setting and would prefer a more 'dear-mun' esque experience. Please specify in your post!
The Stalk | Saga
6
On silent paws, Lying Cat threads her way between the passersby on the street, moving ever closer to her quarry. If the Stalk is here, does that mean that the Will is too? She cannot smell her partner, but she will have answers from this ghost who is no ghost if she can.
She turns the corner, spying the woman up ahead, and more curious than alarmed, Lying Cat moves forward into her line of sight. Her ears prick and she looks at her, head tipping ever so slightly to the side in inquiry. ]
no subject
The guy she'd seen when she'd woken up (Emperor? something something) had told her about the dream realm and whatnot. She hadn't really been listening, you always get better information from people on the street than politicians that only feed you what they want you to believe. The fact that the Kedan people are alright with her Spider-like body doesn't even compute, not when her universe is used to stranger creatures.
So maybe this is all just a dream, maybe she is comatose and she'd eventually wake up and be able to hunt for her prey and not get stuck checking the groceries. Seriously, this better be a dream because how is a girl supposed to live on a diet with no insects?
And then a flicker of a familiar movement catches her eye.]
... Lying Cat? [She scurries off next to the feline, unafraid. She might not have been in good terms with The Will, but Lying Cats always play by the rules.] Am I dreaming about you now?
no subject
Her ears twitch forward again as the lines across her forehead smooth out. They’ve been on opposite sides before, but she’d been there when The Will had heard the news. She’d watched a man who never flinched from death or violence break down and cry. She’d watched him move listlessly through the days, more dead himself than alive.
The Stalk is important to her partner. And for that alone, she moves closer and gently butts her head against one of her hands. A low, friendly Mmmrrr rumbles up out of her throat.
Wherever they are, they’ll find The Will again, and when they do, Lying Cat’s determined that she’ll bring the one he’s lost with her too.]
no subject
But then she actually goes to her, butting her head to her side as if saying 'hey, you', and The Stalk isn't the one for sentimentalism but she does lower her guard a bit, allowing a smile as she lets one of her hands reach to pet her. Was she alone? Had she been kidnapped to this place as well?
So many questions, and none of the answer she gets makes sense to her anymore. She doesn't even know if they are in the same planet, in the same constellation, in the same fucking galaxy. But that's... not the question that's burning in the back of her head, the question that doesn't let her think about anything else. There's a lot they have to do if they were truly brought to a random lost, wild and not yet colonized planet, but first she has to know.]
I died. [She simply says, waiting for the sidekick's reply.]
idwiw
He's weaving through the marketplace, biting into a native fruit he nicked off a cart, trying to formulate a plan of action that isn't 'take Evandau hostage until he coughs up a ship to get out of here'.
And that's about when, in the clearing of a crowd, he spots a very familiar eight-eyed face. He just kind of glances from The Stalk, to the fruit in his hand, back to The Stalk, and then throws the thing over his shoulder unceremoniously.]
Some day I'll learn not to eat strange food on strange planets.
no subject
If you've got problems with the food, imagine how imaginative I will have to be with my diet. [She purses her lips, looking at the apple. She can eat fruit, she can eat plenty of things- but how is she going to survive if the marketplace doesn't stock up in insects in the middle of what feels like winter?]
So. [She pays attention to the man again, all her red eyes fixed on him.] Why are you here? Drugs? I am in a coma and dreaming? Is this some silly version of the purgatory?
All of the above?
no subject
I must be tripping balls right now, you're fucking dead. I mourned you. [In his own miserable way.
He reaches up to scratch idly at the side of his head, looking around at how nobody seems to be reacting to either of them. Never heard of Freelancers, he guesses. But then a kedan moves around her to get by with his armful of groceries and The Will just kind of stares.]
Are you really here or am I high as shit again? I haven't even had a fucking smoke since I got dropped on this wet shit of a planet.
no subject
The fact that she died, the fact that this is supposed to be a realm between death and life is still far too surreal for her to actually process it, for her to mourn herself. There will be time for that later. But the last words she heard from his lips were that he loved her. That he was in love with her still.
And now he's telling her he mourned her?]
I don't know what's going on. If you are high I must be as well. If I died and you are alive... maybe the Emperor was right and we have met in the middle. But listen to me. [She reaches to grab his arms with two of his arms, and grab his face with two other ones. Some Kedan give her a second glance (even shapeshifters have their limits with weird forms, who knew?) but then they keep on walking.]
The man I fell in love with wouldn't fucking mourn. The men I fell in love with? He would seek vengeance.
no subject
Still loves her maybe. For the most dangerous man in the galaxy, he's pretty pathetic.
He doesn't recoil, doesn't pull back at all when he feels hands on his arms and his face, maybe he even steps forward toward her a few more small steps.]
I wanted to! I still want to, if I ever get my hands on that fucking drone, he's dead. [It comes out vehemently, because it's the truth, he did want to seek vengeance. And then he started tripping balls and hallucinating the Stalk and things got more complicated.] But the last I remember, I was hallucinating you telling me not to. And to fuck the Wreath girl who helped me rescue Sophie off Sextillion. You were very explicit...
no subject
Whatever magic there had been the moment he mentioned mourning her is kind of lost and Stalk isn't sure if she wants to hit him or kiss him. Instead she does neither and uses another set of arms to grab his own hands and put them on her breasts.]
Did you miss me, or did you miss these? [It's meant to sound scolding, but she can't keep the amusement out of her voice.] If I'm dead I'm dead, lover-boy. If your high subconscious was using me to get rid of the guilt of fucking someone else then so be it, fuck her backwards for all I care. You're the one who get jealous because I 'slept around', even when it didn't mean a thing.
[She lets his hands go, as if she'd suddenly remembered he'd kind of broken up with her. Over the phone. For getting her job done! Unbelievable.]
But stop wanking to old sex tapes and kill him.
no subject
Things are complicated, and now she's grabbing his hands and putting them on her breasts and oh, oh he did miss those.] Both?
[But then she's dropping his hands, and he just steps closer, leaning in to take in the familiar scent of his ex. His ex who he is still in love with.] Fuck, didn't I say I wanted to? It's gonna be kinda hard, though, considering the last thing I remember is getting stabbed in the jugular. Things are complicated right now.
I did miss you though. I kept having these stupid fucking dreams.
no subject
'I mourned you', but how will he mourn her if he's also gone?]
Tell me what happened. [She reaches for his neck, as if she was going to find the wound he talked about.] Did they go for you, too? We really shouldn't have taken that job, huh?
no subject
No, it wasn't- [He sighs, runs a hand over his head.] It wasn't her fault, okay? We all ate the food on this planet we crashed on. Hallucinated, tripped fucking balls. It was trying to get us to stay and become part of the ecosystem or what the fuck ever. Sophie got up behind me with a knife. It wasn't her fault.
[He doesn't remember much besides pain, but he does remember trying to tell her that - that it wasn't her fault. That he didn't blame her.]
no subject
She entwines their fingers together when he gets her hand. Her pride had made her dismiss his cry for help, but she wonders if they could have stayed friends if things had been different. Unlikely, because of their job. A job both happen to be really good at.
Fuck-buddies?]
So that's why you dreamed me trying to get you to stay. Because the planet wanted to? ...Or did you really want to stay with them, with Sophie, the other woman and your cat like a happy family?
no subject
I don't fuckin' know. I'm not cut out to take care of a six year old but where the fuck else is Sophie gonna go? And Gwen... I like her, but I was still in love with you.
no subject
And suddenly, as she stares at the Will's face as he sorts his thoughts out her other self's advice doesn't seem so out of left field. Suddenly it all makes sense.]
Tell me about Sophie. She's six? That is definitely too young for you.
no subject
And then he promptly chokes a little.] "Too young for"- Of course she's too young, that's why I came crawling back to you to partner up. I needed the money to get her off Sextillion. Keeping a kid there... That's fucked up. Gwendolyn, the Wreath girl, helped me get her off after you- [Waves a hand.] You know. Kicked it.
no subject
You're the one who told me she was too young over the phone, I was just agreeing with it. And you didn't plan ahead on what to do with her, I'm guessing?

I apologize in advance for Looma's...Looma-ness
The ones who don't move get rudely shoved to the side, because 1.) might makes right and 2.) princess walkin', here! Not even the spider lady's exempt, though her own wide gait might mean someone's foot might get stepped on.]
"Mind your step, insect. With that many legs, I am surprised you do not know how to use at least some of them."
I apologize for The Stalk Stalk-ness :,D
And she has more important things to worry about: namely what galaxy is this, where is she, did she lose her prey, did she truly die or is she just in a coma and heavily drugged? It is a mystery to her and all she gets is vague answers about a war (there's always a war), a realm between life and death and something about sea prunes.
And now she's getting insulted? It takes a second for her to realize it's her she's talking to, and when she does she gets a loud hiss.]
I've always known how to use my arms better, to be honest. [She says, pulling the shirt away to reveal three arms pointing at the giant with different types of guns./small>] Call me that again and we'll figure out how good.
Wait it's the stalk, and the emote has only two eyes? It's confusing to my poor fan-brain :U
Not that it's going to help the attitude much. Spoiled princess, here.]
"Well, it is nice to see someone on this miserable planet is not as pathetic as they appear."
[...yeah that's about as close to a glowing compliment anyone's getting today. If Looma had any intention of responding to the abrupt threat, the most that happens is she hefts the massive two-headed warhammer at her hip into two hands, holding it across her chest while two more remain free. Just in case she should need them, obviously. A sonic clap to the face tended to solve many of life's small inconveniences.]
"But if you are so eager to test me in battle creature, I will happily indulge you. After I find the answers I seek."
[Someone doesn't quite buy the story the locals are putting out. Go figure, right?]
::::,D better?
So you're just as new to this place as I am. What kind of questions? Because I have a lot of them and so far I have gotten squat when it comes to answers.
Yes good it all makes sense now
[Well, nothing financial at least. She would still request payment in the form of glorious songs dedicated to her triumphant victory, some statues, etc.
You know, the little things.]
no subject
[Or a bit more if she had the Will to help, but that doesn't look likely anymore. His loss- or would have been, if she hadn't died. Whatever.]
I know as much about the threat as you probably do, I'm afraid. Big bad evil, no one dares to speak its name, can be anyone he wants to be. I'll find out more eventually, but recognizance takes time.
