HOW IT WORKS:

Mark thinks that Vic is really easy to be around, and Mark likes that. He also likes how while Vic may not be the nerdiest person he's met on the turtle, Mark can get on the geekier side of things without getting eyerolling in response.
Vic's also got the distinction of being the first person Mark admitted his secret identity to on the turtle, so there's that. That means a lot to Mark, as he's used to most of his friends back home knowing who he really is. It helps him to be more open with Vic, than he would be with say Korra.
Even if Vic sucks at the whole secret ID thing more than Mark.
