break out the teal deers!

THE CR TL;DR MEME
HOW IT WORKS:
1. List your character(s)!
2. Others respond with "what does your character X think of my character Y?" or some variation.
3. Respond to them! Break out those teal deers!
4. Generate some discussion about your CR!
5. PROFIT!

There's no denying that Scott has an immense soft spot for kids. Provided he's not being manipulated or coerced into spending time and babysitting, I imagine he likes spending time with them and has a little bit of a fatherly bent (or at least a cool but absent-minded uncle vibe) towards them. He didn't really have much of that when he first met Toph, largely because the first few times they spoke she was totally in control and tough and nails and seemed like she could take care of herself with both hands tied behind her back despite her age. And he liked her sassiness and her in general.
And then he caught her after the party and wow did everything change. He still thinks she's a strong person definitely but he's also thinking that maybe he should've kept a closer eye on her in the sense that even strong people need someone to lean on every now and then. It kind of killed him inside to see her cry because even though she's not his kid, he's of the opinion that the hardest things kids should have to deal with should involve deciding which toys to buy at the toy store. All of this existentialist life stuff? Yeah no, no one should have to deal with that sort of stuff at such a young age.
Scott really hopes that Toph has a lot of friends she can count on when she needs a hand (she seems like the kind of person who would) but at the same time he's also made a silent promise to himself that he'll try and be there if she ever does need him. Also he really hopes that she can find a way to come to terms with the whole future daughter thing and if she ever needs help with that he will be happy to assist. :|b
