Peter on Miles so far?

[personal profile] nerdylilspidey 2013-11-06 03:26 pm (UTC)(link)
So far, Peter thinks Miles is a good kid. A really good kid. He was super helpful in Peter's first post, and then he had apparently gone and taken up the Spider-Man mantle following his death. Peter knows better than anyone how hard that really is. And it takes a certain kind of person to go running around the city in tights fighting crime (he thinks so, at least).

At the same time, he feels kind of terrible about it. Miles is obviously younger than he is, which means the superheroics must be even harder on him. It's like Miles got abruptly thrust into the thick of things, and that's just not fair to him. So Peter kind of feels responsible for him. And he wants to make sure that he's prepared enough for the storms ahead, so that Miles doesn't share Peter's fate. Death isn't pleasant, especially if it happens before you graduate high school, and Peter doesn't wish it on anybody.

Peter also has a great appreciation for Miles' honesty. It can't be easy to answer a dead guy's questions about the family and friends that were left behind, but it looks like Miles is doing his best anyway. He did try to make it a little easier by telling him that he knew what had happened to him, but still. That's just an awkward conversation all around, and Miles seems to be handling it pretty well.

He obviously hasn't seen much of Miles in action, but he can guess that he's been doing a good job. But if Miles ever needs anything in the way of help, or advice, or web-fluid, Peter's more than willing to help out. Spidey to Spidey.

Pete on his not-quite-but-still-clone Kaine
nerdylilspidey: (but... cute. right?)

Say what you will about Kaine and his being a bad guy or whatever, but Peter's actually fond of him. Partly because he completely saved him by bringing him to a clinic when he was lost and confused and disoriented and panic-injure-babbling. But also because-- Kaine seems to get it. There's something about both of them knowing that they're basically dead that's sort of weirdly comforting. It's nice to not feel like he's the only one thinking that he's really dead and that life on the turtle is all he has now.

Of course, Kaine is obviously quite different from himself. Age and height and gruffness aside, he's just a totally different person. For instance, there are clearly no awkward nerdy genes in there, and the mental censor is non-existent (Peter must start a Swear Jar soon). Couple all that with the fact that he's not one of the clones that Peter knew of in his universe, and Peter just has a weird sort of time thinking of him as a clone. He seems more like an estranged older brother that he's only just meeting for the first time. And - again - it's nice to feel like there's some semblance of family around. An odd family for sure, but still a family.

Peter's also intensely curious about him. He struck out all on his own, and he's not based in New York, and he clearly has a very different philosophy on life than he does. And it's also not just because he's a clone, but also because he's from this alternate universe where there's an older Peter and a white Nick Fury and the Ultimates are called the Avengers for some reason. It pings the nerdiest parts of him in some of the best ways possible. He has so many questions, he can't even think of what to ask first.

Long story short, Peter likes him. He accepts him. And however gruff Kaine's being, he fully believes that he's just trying to hide the good person that he really is deep down. :)

Aww Peter! See, Kaine is hoping that this is how Peter feels about him, and he's terrified of ruining this whole thing. That's why he's going to try to stay as tight-lipped about his past as he can, but at the same time knows it's only a matter of time before he ruins everything. Because he has problems.

Pete you have a lot to work with. Sorry.
