Bruce on Ivy /chinhands

They've fallen in a relatively stable relationship! I said it on plurk the other day but I honestly don't think Bruce would accept anyone else as his assistant. Ivy is this improbable confluence of factors that make her both not need him (appealing, since he's phobic of being tied down) and make him want to protect her (reminds him of himself, looks like a young girl). She has a lot of qualities that he himself tries to embody, and he admires that she pulls them off most of the time.

At the same time, he's very aware that she's more than just the Archive. He's been calling her the Archive exclusively because it's the request she's made, and he hates it when people don't respect his wishes on what to call him / the Hulk. It's a mark of respect that he hasn't challenged her on the name. But he's cognizant that a name does not indicate who you are, and he knows that underneath the surface, she's a girl with her own feelings who needs support. That reminds him of himself more than ever. That moment where she broke down during the power loss is one he'll never forget; it'll always be there in the back of his mind, preventing him from buying into her mask.

Obviously, they do have a lot of parallels as characters. xD So it makes sense that they've settled into a fairly comfortable mutual understanding, because they don't need to challenge each other.
