break out the teal deers!

THE CR TL;DR MEME

HOW IT WORKS:

1. List your character(s)!
2. Others respond with "what does your character X think of my character Y?" or some variation.
3. Respond to them! Break out those teal deers!
4. Generate some discussion about your CR!
5. PROFIT!

kyle ;;;;;

LET'S FACE IT, FIGURING OUT HOW TO BE A HERO IS A MESS. Jaime has role models left and right thanks to Ted and the JLI, sure, but all of them have sort of felt distant or unattainable. Everyone around him has seriously pedestal'd Ted Kord, and though he's luckily managed to avoid holding any bitterness toward Ted, he still occasionally has his doubts about being a legacy hero. Like, he for sure knows that he needs to be the best Jaime and not the best mini-Ted, but when everybody around is someone who Ted knew, how does he not worry that Jaime's best won't be as good as the least Ted could give?

AND THEN THERE IS KYLE. Kyle is like an in-between for Jaime: he's not quite a peer, but he's younger than the other adult heroes, and also a lot more accessible than, say, Superman (sorry Kal!) for relate-ability. Kyle's been in his shoes before, and it feels less like he's being taught by an instructor and more like he's getting tips from a friend who's been in a similar position. He's very real with him, which is really refreshing. An "it sucks and I can't change it, but I'm here for you" is actually more helpful than an "it gets better"-- it's like Kyle is helping to give him the room he needs to have a hard time, to persevere, and to get through it on his own power. Instead of constantly using Ted Kord as a comparison point.
