I love Prussian history, really. It's such a intriguing progression and culture especially when you look at the differences in Brandenberg's growth and then Teutonic Knights/Duchy of Prussia, and then how they unified and then the Kingdom its rise as a power in Europe and then--basically just everything about Prussian history is really fascinating to me. Okay done babbling. XD

also have you read any of christopher clark's work??? he is like the only writer in english that really really really gets prussia and doesn't default to the bullshit social militarization theories from the 50s.

OH THE SEVEN YEARS WAR. ONE OF MY FAVORITE WARS SO FAR. I'm still learning a lot about it, but it is a definite favorite of mine. I will keep all of that in mind!

And yes! I looove Christopher Clark's writings on Prussia. Iron Kingdom is this huge, lovely massive block of Prussian historical analysis and observations that I have been reading over and over for months. I also am reading Geoffrey Wawro's The Franco-Prussian War which is pretty good for more in depth focus on that chunk of time. He and Clark have a lot of similar opinions while still presenting some interesting differences, from what I've read so far, so the two books complement each other.

omg I could never do something like that, but mainly because I get tongue-tied too easily. It would be amazing to meet someone like that though, so I applaud you for wanting to take the opportunity.

Yes, Wawro's style of writing it really good too, not too heavy, but not flippant either. He makes it feel like you're engaged in learning and the discussion going on.

Also as a random surprise for myself, I clicked on a Hetalia!Prussia related playlist on Youtube once and ended up stumbling onto a BBC documentary called Frederick the Great and the Prussia Enigma. The fact the entire hour broadcast was on youtube was kind of a miracle and the show itself was AMAZING. I was really happy I found it.

I am a history geek in general but over the last couple of years Prussian history has become something I really like just because it's fairly unique in a lot of ways how it all came about. I'm happy to see someone else who enjoys it!

Frederick the Great is basically one of my favorite historical figures ever (you could write a narrative about his life and it would sound like an epic novel rather than real life) so it made my whole week when I found it.
