Asbel likes Tony! He reminds him a lot of Malik, what with the sarcasm and the drinking and the knowing things, and so Asbel mentally adopted him pretty quickly. Between the Dream conversation with Lambda and...how I imagine his dream thread with Asbel is going to go (I'll get that back tonight I swear), Asbel's clued in to Tony has some things he kind of. Regrets maybe?? And Asbel's solution is, of course, to trust him! He believes completely that Tony is a good person at heart, and if he found out what actually happened, he'd recognize that Tony had to make a bunch of really hard decisions, and maybe he didn't make the right ones and it cost him a lot, including some friends, and Asbel. Asbel understands that feel of "All my friends are pissed at me", boy does he fucking ever. It wouldn't change how Asbel thinks of him, though; he'll simply accept that Tony's got problems he needs to work on, and Asbel will be there trusting and believing in him the whole way, because he thinks Tony underestimates just how much that helps people.
