Tl;dr Mega Meme Bonanza
Comment with a list of your characters, receive questions, or just tl;dr on your own unprompted! Here's some suggestions. ◘ What does your character think of mine? ◘ What goes on during our handwaved CR? How much handwaved CR do we have? ◘ Canon information, for those unfamiliar with your canon. ◘ All sorts of headcanon questions-- sleeping positions, childhoods, past sexual or romantic history, etc. ◘ Would your character date mine? ◘ If they were put under a truth spell, what would come out? ◘ Where do you want to go with your character, story arc wise? ◘ Give an example of their daily routine in Keeliai. ◘ Who do they miss most from home? Would they go back if they could? ◘ What kind of music do you listen to while tagging? What does your character listen to ICly? ◘ Elaborate on what you've been working on improving in your writing style lately. ◘ What would their daemon spirit animal be, as from His Dark Materials? ◘ What have been your favorite threads with me? And much, much more! Go wild! I recommend making a plain top level comment with just your list of characters, and replying to yourself to fill out things on your own. |

OH GOD okay well. Keep in mind that some of this does contain headcanon, influence from 616, and logical sort of extrapolation. And a lot of this relates to their father as well so...yes.
So Wanda and Pietro are twins. They were raised the first seven years of their life or so together with their mother, who was a witch, but human. When Erik and Charles decided to found mutantopia aka their Brotherhood of Mutants, they both left the human mothers of their children. Charles left his son behind, but Erik took his children with him. So from that young age, they've only ever had their father, and each other.
While Erik and Charles were trying to sort things out, there was some moving around. Erik didn't keep in touch with any family except the kids and with the running around, suffice to say they likely didn't have a chance to make any friends except each other. This is further supported by the fact that not only was their father a mutant supremacist, but well, elitist among other mutants as well. So, chances are no other kids would be good enough for his children to associate with either. I wouldn't say they were isolated but finding playmates for his children was not high on his list of priorities while trying to get the brotherhood up and running. They had each other, that was enough, right?
Because of their isolation, they grew very close to each other, and it's unlikely they were exposed to any other sibling relationships for any major length of time. It's my personal belief that a lack of outside influence/social construction about how their relationship should be (they were kids also) is why they grew close in ways that most people sort of side-eyed. For instance, they never really grew out of the hand-holding. Sigh. ANYWAY things probably started to change and...decidedly not-change once they came into their powers. While Magneto should have been pleased by the fact that they were both mutants, he found fault with Pietro and his power, calling it effeminite and Wanda well...her powers were fantastic and powerful but unstable.
It's my belief that once they proved themselves capable of training with their powers that he began coming down on them harder, expecting more from them. After all, they weren't just mutants but his children. They had to be the best of the best, nothing less than perfection would do. And...well, Magneto was a father who proved himself to be more than willing to manipulate his own children to achieve what he wanted. So what that left Wanda and Pietro with while semi-isolated and given ideas that they had to be the best and were above all of the other mutants was...just each other. Still. So yeah, they didn't grow out of the hand-holding, and instead began relying on each other more, not just for support but for affection.
So yeah their dynamic is that they're close, very close. They're in a dog-eat-dog world, and the only family member who they can rely on entirely is their twin. Their father is cruel, manipulative, and horrid in a million ways in how he treated them, warped them, and abused them. In many, many ways they are all each other has ever had since they were taken from their mother at a young age.
Unfortunately the closeness of their relationship, odd by some people's standards and at other times questionable...earns them a lot of flack. Pietro's interest in Wanda is at times...a little too personal/over-protective, of course. God knows he has lots of moments of "DON'T TOUCH HER" and cockblocking/questioning Wanda's flirting (though to be fair she was trying to seduce Scott Summers of all people at one point so really he was doing her a favor), stemming from Pietro’s belief that Wanda is perfect and therefore no one is good enough for her. It isn’t just their closeness that prompts a lot of questions about their relationship, but Pietro’s sort of hovering, protective presence.
But yeah basically uhm. The twins have been running the gauntlet their entire lives. They have the worst version of Magneto for a father. He turned them into terrorists, mutant supremacists. He raised them in an environment in which they were pressed to elevate themselves among their peers. They were raised in a world where everyone thinks that they are all freaks who are better off dead, where they can’t rely on even the police to protect them from other citizens. They were raised by the very man who abused them emotionally/mentally to prize family ties above all else. He elevated himself like a god above them...
So suffice to say it wasn't an easy decision for Pietro to make, to betray his father, even though they’ve been living in his shadow for almost their entire lives. Even when they thought he was dead and they were running the Brotherhood, they have always been seen as Magneto’s children. It affects how they act, affects how the interact with others, even after they put the Brotherhood behind them. They have never had any sense of having anyone other to rely on, really trust but each other. Not until the Ultimates and even then it’s been a tentative thing with a select few individuals. Family is prized above all other, and on opposing sides with their father, they have each other. That's it.
It's different with 616 Wanda and Pietro of course, and god knows there is a lot of headcanon I ran out of steam to talk about, like other headcanon things about their father, but...this probably paints a better picture of things for you now? More questions are entirely welcome <3
