Tl;dr Mega Meme Bonanza
Comment with a list of your characters, receive questions, or just tl;dr on your own unprompted! Here's some suggestions. ◘ What does your character think of mine? ◘ What goes on during our handwaved CR? How much handwaved CR do we have? ◘ Canon information, for those unfamiliar with your canon. ◘ All sorts of headcanon questions-- sleeping positions, childhoods, past sexual or romantic history, etc. ◘ Would your character date mine? ◘ If they were put under a truth spell, what would come out? ◘ Where do you want to go with your character, story arc wise? ◘ Give an example of their daily routine in Keeliai. ◘ Who do they miss most from home? Would they go back if they could? ◘ What kind of music do you listen to while tagging? What does your character listen to ICly? ◘ Elaborate on what you've been working on improving in your writing style lately. ◘ What would their daemon spirit animal be, as from His Dark Materials? ◘ What have been your favorite threads with me? And much, much more! Go wild! I recommend making a plain top level comment with just your list of characters, and replying to yourself to fill out things on your own. |

So, really, right now Tony's major problem is that he's got major gaps in his memory. He usually doesn't act bothered by this at all, because Tony Stark. He is actually pretty good at compartmentalizing and temporarily ignoring things he doesn't want to think about, and without some very close friends around, he probably would not or will not bring up how much it bothers him. But the reality is that he is pretty unnerved every time someone from his universe mentions anything that happened there. He doesn't remember doing anything that he relatively recently found out he had done (Skrulls, Civil War, etc) and it feels like a different person to him. Like he wasn't really there. His fears regarding the mirrors currently are less about the monsters in them and more about the fact so many are just blank. He doesn't know how much he has lost, and he focuses on the monsters because they are beatable. There is always the guilt of creating a potential weapon that can get out of control and always a fear of becoming an uncontrollable force--a reckless drunk with superpowers, essentially--but those are tangible fears that are familiar to him. He courts them because he can handle them. And he's been avoiding the real problem this whole time: the fact he doesn't really know 100% who he is. The cloning talk and dimension change haven't helped that, either. And that's the point of helplessness that really bothers him. Monsters and physical threats he can fight. Losing memories? He can only really turn on himself.
He's being over-reactive to the physical threats because he's trying to use that as a crutch. And Happy being really angry at getting ignored is kind of an extension of his sub-conscious trying to get them out of there. SO DAMN IT, RICHARD, STOP IGNORING HIM. XD
But, yeah. He blames himself for what happened, but he also doesn't remember it personally. It's hard to harbor real guilt when he can't remember why it happened. He'll claim guilt the same way he claims to be sorry. And it's not that he's lying, but it's not as upsetting as just not knowing who he is or what his own motivations are. Which is why he keeps getting them lost... He's an idiot afraid of his own shadow.

Since turnabout is fairplay, Tony's thoughts on Richard?

And then they were kind of frightening.
He has better respect for them now. And setting the combat stuff aside, he thinks Richard is very patient and noble. Not regal, exactly, but still noble. After the trip into the Dreaming, he's still going to think that. Richard is kind of striking him as a Hamlet-type person. Uh, with monsters that apparently just life in their world, but still. He's a noble born leader and a good friend with some unpleasant background. Unpleasant history is a thing, and he sees Richard as strong for recovering as much as he has. But that's a true leader for you, huh?
Tony does see Richard as more friend than leader, which might be pro or con depending on your viewpoint. He's less likely to follow a friend's directives, but more likely to offer help and an emotional side to him. Because he feels like he can relate to him and maybe confide, rather than admiring him or looking up to him. He's a teammate--Tony has kind of adopted Team 01--and he looks at Richard as a good team partner and a decent leader (although maybe not his leader). He can trust him with his back, which is actually pretty hard to say even though Tony will willingly fight alongside a lot of people. Getting to the trust level is harder than it appears. He's a nice, dependable guy. And there's still a bit of Tony Stark individualism that keeps him from accepting him as their team leader, but he is definitely a leader. He can lead everyone else. XD
But he likes him and would accept being friends. He keeps his reservations, but friends is okay.

HAMLET... BASICALLY WORKS. With less prolonged monologuing and more immediate decisions on the uncle-killing. Richard's totally happy to be Tony's friend. Leadermode is something he has a hard time shutting off but he just wants the friendship. Trust! Mutual support! Watching your back. Richard always wants to guard Tony's back.
friendship!!

King Richard. Well, he's a good leader. Tony just resists friendship because he is bad at it. How does he friends? But Richard is growing on him.
