HOW DID HE FEEL ABOUT HER? DOES HE STILL MISS HER? HOW DID IT FEEL TO WAKE UP AFTER MIND DELETE WITH HER DEATH BEING FRESH AGAIN IN HIS HEAD? DOES HE STILL VISIT HER GRAVE? GIVE ME ALL OF TONY'S THOUGHTS ON HER.

Rumiko, in my opinion, was the one near miss that broke everything. He's had losses and close relationships before, but Rumiko was the last and arguably best of them. She broke his heart. Yes, I know, he's said that before. But she really did. After he lost her--after getting that close to buying into the whole "maybe we could grow old together" dream--he hasn't made any real effort since. Flirting, brief flings, things that he uses to avoid being lonely, sure, but investments just don't happen. I don't know if they will in the future, but right now he's pretty much quit. So how does he feel? Guilty. Still in love, although he does believe in moving on. There are undoubtedly times where little things will remind him of her again and he'll miss her all over. He missed her before delete. He doesn't bring up that shit, but he did. He just also resolved to keep going, because he couldn't very well do anything else. But he misses her currently too. He's not languishing every second of the day, but in the same way he would decide he wanted to see her at random moments when they were still trying to work out what to do with each other he has random moments now where he wants to see her again.

Waking up to what the hell in general was bad. There was a lot he had to adjust to, and getting used to Rumiko not being a recent loss was just one of the things he had to get used to. I can't say she took priority there, but mostly he was confused and upset all around, and she was part of that. He adjusted. Not well--he just hasn't been canonically adjusting well to life--but he adjusted. And then there was space and fuck you space.

As for visiting her grave, I don't think he has since her funeral. He might on the anniversary per tradition and he might not. Fujikawa would probably not be happy at all to see him there, and he's already ruined things enough without ruining her memory--but he might. Maybe on the day. To apologize and try to say something. You know, like the things he should have said when she was alive. I don't think he goes regularly, but I can see him making spur of the moment flights out to visit the grave site when he just feels like he has to get his thoughts out. Most of the time he just tries to push past it and act like nothing happened. Sometimes he succeeds. Not so much late at night when he's alone with his thoughts.

And on that note? Propositioning Pepper after waking up was probably in response to missing Ru and just feeling shitty and lonely. Callback to when she was comforting him when Ru walked out. Except time passed and none was left to mourn with. So, yeah, he misses her.

Oh god. Finds it while sifting through his heap of stupid junk looking for useful parts and for a second he doesn't even know what it is. What is this ring? And then he realizes what it is and dies a little inside again.

Things he can't do without thinking about her: attend parties (especially clubs/dances), go to museums, eat sushi, and laugh (instead of chuckle).

Also poinsettias.

studio ghibli is probably ruined for him forever too. HEY HOW DO YOU FEEL ABOUT THE NEWS THAT HAYAO MIYAZAKI IS RETIRING TONY?

HEY SHUT UP.

He doesn't even feel that strongly about Ghibli films. They are cute, okay, but he doesn't care that much. But that kind of thing was very Rumiko. She liked them, and obviously they most likely had some childhood nostalgic value. What little kid doesn't want to escape on a magical adventure?

There are other directors and animators. The genre isn't lost. But, for the woman that always seemed like she was trying to escape (or pretending to), that was her escape. And it feels like the end of an era. It's just another piece of her that he doesn't have and won't get back. So watch him go out of his way to view all the shorts now. orz See, that's something he would tell her about if he went to her grave site. Maybe on New Year or something. Make it a date.

Or man she is in and out of volume three. They have an on again, off again dating experience that turns into disgustingly cute and then really sad. She dies a bit before he gets Extremis.

Issues 13, 37-40, and 62-63 are pretty good and include some very cute moments with her. And amusingly show how she takes charge and Tony just kind of derps along after her. SUCH A HERO.

Volume 3 is made of a lot of derp and cheese, but I find it enjoyable anyway. :x

Hey man, I read Silver Age DC comics on a daily basis and enjoy them immensely. Admittedly DC Silver Age stuff is more 'wtf were you high when you wrote this' than 'wow this is super cheesy' but I'm sure I'll enjoy it nonetheless. :|b

Older comics can be a lot of fun for the wrong reasons. :'D I really enjoy them for the MST3K factor (and the times they really do say some decent, serious stuff). Also, I've found that IM doesn't take itself seriously. The title pages half the time credit people with ridiculous themes or slogans just to be silly. XD;

I am trying to read through in order to track his progression, and my summary notes go from useful to "Cleopatra was pretty and stuff" and "Still stuck in armor. lawl Stark."

vol 3 Tony Stark is probably the last time Tony was universally likeable. After that civil war and then Fraction era and whatever the hell Gillen is doing so the character is pretty much ruined after that
