Tl;dr Mega Meme Bonanza

THE TL;DR MEGA MEME BONANZA

Comment with a list of your characters, receive questions, or just tl;dr on your own unprompted! Here's some suggestions.

◘ What does your character think of mine?
◘ What goes on during our handwaved CR? How much handwaved CR do we have?
◘ Canon information, for those unfamiliar with your canon.
◘ All sorts of headcanon questions-- sleeping positions, childhoods, past sexual or romantic history, etc.
◘ Would your character date mine?
◘ If they were put under a truth spell, what would come out?
◘ Where do you want to go with your character, story arc wise?
◘ Give an example of their daily routine in Keeliai.
◘ Who do they miss most from home? Would they go back if they could?
◘ What kind of music do you listen to while tagging? What does your character listen to ICly?
◘ Elaborate on what you've been working on improving in your writing style lately.
◘ What would their daemon spirit animal be, as from His Dark Materials?
◘ What have been your favorite threads with me?
◘ What do their dragons look like in Flight Rising?

And much, much more! Go wild! I recommend making a plain top level comment with just your list of characters, and replying to yourself to fill out things on your own.

Just Scott here!

Although if you really want to ask me about the app I have sitting in the queue I suppose you can do that too. Not like I don't love him enough to do this for him anyway. :c

Also seconding your playlist question.

HMMM.

This is kind of hard because at the point he's pulled from in canon, he's only really just started connecting with the gaggle of kids he's supposed to be overseeing in the Future Foundation. So while he definitely feels a strong need to watch out for them and make sure they're all okay, they're not yet family-family if that makes sense? Mostly at this point he's still kind of angsting over Cassie's death and generally being useless so being on the turtle away from the people he knows isn't all too bad. He definitely does miss the people he knows from back home but he's never really had a concrete place of his own (he's low on the Avengers ranking, not really part of the FF, kind of does his own thing for a while, and even with the new replacement FF they're not all BFFs with each other yet) and being thrust into new situations is kind of a superhero thing so it's not too bad?

And going back to the whole angsting thing, he kind of feels like that he doesn't have too much to live for back in 616 Marvel universe. Yeah he's got the kids but only part of that is a genuine "I like these kids and want them to succeed" and part of it is still "okay I promised Reed I would take care of these kids so I should probably do that." Plus he's not the only one taking care of them and he trusts Jen and Darla and Medusa to take good care of them so he's not overly freaking out anymore. And I'm pretty sure he doesn't talk to his ex-wife any longer so nothing on that end. He supposedly has a sister he was on good terms with and I imagine he would like to see her but that's probably it.

WOW I DON'T MAKE ANY SENSE WITH MY ANSWERS BUT TL;DR he is actually mostly okay with being on the turtle and away from people he knows because he doesn't actually have much family/friends and thus he doesn't mind being separated from them.

As for playlists....I have been slacking really hard in making playlists for my characters. :c As a general rule of thumb I try to pick stuff that my character would actually listen to ICly but all the stuff Scott would listen to is from like the 70s and 80s and the only oldies I have on my computer are The Beatles (which he would listen to) so that makes it kind of hard.

But if I had to generalize, he prefers more rock-based stuff (John Cougar Mellancamp, etc) with maybe a little bit of jazz (Aretha Franklin) snuck in there. I don't have specific songs but now that I've realized my oversight I'm going to hunt through my iTunes library and make a playlist now.

Tell me about Cassie.

What's he thought about the turtle so far and all the different kinds of people on board?

Who are his favourite people here?

[personal profile] langsyne 2013-09-02 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
bro I could write you a dissertation on Cassie but lemme answer your other questions first

Scott is actually really liking the turtle and all the people around so far, with the exception of creepy Malicant dude because nobody likes creepy Malicant dudes. And also Colby and his cyborg rooster for Reasons. The whole reason he became (and enjoyed) being a superhero in the first place was getting to see a little action and adventure and getting out of his routine as a full-time dad and Stark Industries employee. Up until recently, he really enjoyed meeting new people and getting to see new things and I definitely think that's still a big part of who he is, even if he's a little more hesitant about it now. That, and he's kind of an inventor/engineer at heart so seeing all this cool new stuff is really intriguing and is sparking a lot of ideas inside him for stuff that I am far too inept and not smart enough to think of.

...Blargh, that reminds me, he still has a bunch of air-conditioned tribble cages he made for Cinna I should do something with those.

AS FAR AS FAVORITE PEOPLE GOES.....canonically his favorite person on the turtle is 616 Tony because former boss who gave him a chance after he was tossed in jail and fellow Avenger and overall pretty nice guy. Admittedly Scott's only really seen the good side of Tony but even so I think he has a healthy amount of respect for the guy and all his ideas.

Non-canonically he really likes Traci and Bryn and Rory, mostly because they're all pretty relaxed and easy to get along with and not afraid to joke around. Really though, he likes half the turtle because they all fit into that umbrella. As long as you're not horrifically rude and own a cyborg rooster ready to rip people in half, chances are good that Scott will like you.

That second part was not very tl;dry and I'm sorry. 8(

some barry stuff for Tea!

because I hate plurk paste.

Barry's dreams!

.......are pretty simple, honestly. He's not a guy with a lot of ambitions or wants or desires. Silver age stuff pokes a lot more fun at this than more recent stuff but he's stated several times in canon that people consider him lazy and unmotivated and that he is a-okay with that. He doesn't need to impress anyone with a flashy green ring or make sure every villain in Gotham Central City is locked up (although that would be a nice perk, not gonna lie). Honestly, he just wants to live a nice steady life with his family because that's what's most important to him.

Maybe settle down with Iris (for real this time) and try for kids again (that he can actually raise instead of dying a month after they're conceived), check in on Wally and spend some time with Wally's kids because they're basically like his grandkids, visit with Jay and Joan because Jay is basically like his dad. Get to know Bart because dammit that kid's his grandson and he ought to know him better than he does right now. And then of course stay at his job as a forensic scientist at the CCPD during the day and do stuff as The Flash during all those other random hours. Pretty much what he does now except with less world-threatening crises and rewriting of history. -_-;; And more relaxing and listening to jazz and that sort of thing.

If Barry could do anything else

....he would still be the Flash and be a superhero and do what he can to help people. He was actually one of the few Leaguers with a completely steady and normal and trauma-free childhood until Geoff Johns decided to completely retcon that GDIT. Thus he never had any sort of need for revenge motivating him or need to prove himself or any of that stuff. He did what he did because it was the right thing to do, period. He went into law enforcement (shhh being a forensic scientist totally counts as law enforcement) because he wanted to make sure the guys being put on trial were actually guilty of what they did and not just a bunch of poor suckers who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. When he got struck by lightning and doused by chemicals and got his superpowers it only made sense that he'd use his powers for what he already does: making sure that the guilty guys go to jail and that the good guys live a happy life.

Admittedly I don't think he likes the fact that superheroing is kind of a full time job and it keeps him away from Iris a lot. He knows it's necessary and he absolutely would not shirk his job or bypass some serious situation just to go spend some extra time with her, but he still feels a little guilty for leaving her alone so much of the time. Still, a superhero's gotta do what a superhero's gotta do and Iris understands so it's all good.

Basically Barry's a big ball of cheese, the end.

;_; Barry why are you so cute? I can't stand it.

Hi, Scott. How's dimensional travel treating you? Jet lag? Also does he have any goals now that life is pretty much set aside?

[personal profile] urbanmagic 2013-09-02 12:36 am (UTC)(link)
How does he feel about a second chance at life?
langsyne: (Default)

[personal profile] langsyne 2013-09-02 02:07 am (UTC)(link)
Ahaha.....you're assuming he actually views all of this as life.

Okay no, I kid. Scott is pretty well-adjusted to life again for the most part, or at least that's what he wants people to believe on the outside. He doesn't mind being up and about and puttering around and helping with small chores here and there, and he definitely enjoys meeting all the different people on the turtle.

That being said, he doesn't think he deserves all of this? He was supposed to be the dead one and he was really okay with that because hey he was getting old anyway and there were a lot of other people who'd carry on the mantle or whatever when he was gone and as long as Cassie was alive things would be okay. But then he was brought back to life and even that would've been okay once he got used to it except Doctor Doom had to go be an asshat and kill off Cassie and then his whole reason for living kind of disappeared right there. And then he spent half a year drinking himself silly and trying to forget that all of that crap ever happen because that's what grown men do.

A lot of things after he sort-of-not-really pulled himself back together were done just for the sake of getting done. A lot of 'going through the motions' if you will. He holed himself up in his lab and worked on designing nano-things, partly because they'd be useful but partly because it was a great distraction and kept him busy. He agreed reluctantly to head the FF after Reed left partly because he didn't have anything better to do with his life and also because Reed is a manipulative jerk (but still a friend). He does all the dumb inventive things he does on the turtle because they're things to do but he's not super invested in them?

Although! He is a little more invested in life on the turtle and a little more lively on the turtle because (and this is really dumb and stupid and he knows it's dumb and stupid) there is the teeniest tiniest chance that Cassie might show up in Tu Shanshu, alive and well and whole. He wouldn't dare mess with time in 616 universe, not after everything that happened because the YAers decided to mess with time and all of that, but since things are already crazy and wonky here, it's more likely that Cassie'll show up and it's that stupid hope that gets him through a lot of his day. There's other stuff too, like the cool people he's met, but really the root of everything right now is his selfish wishful thinking that Cassie might show up.

And if she does show up on the turtle, then he will completely accept and welcome this second chance at life.

room decoration tl;dr for Reine

[personal profile] langsyne 2013-09-02 03:21 pm (UTC)(link)
NOT AS TL;DRY AS YOURS THOUGH SADLY

Honestly? Scott is......not huge on decoration. Not because he doesn't like it but because he just has other things to do that are more important than finding cute trinkets and placing them in visually appealing locations. Not to mention that his suite is half living space - kitchen, console, couch-slash-bed-slash-futon - and half workshop - table, lamp, chair, various gadgetries and tools for making all the stuff he wants to make. There's not really a lot of room for decoration anyway.

This is not to say that his suite is completely bare of anything and everything. There's actually a lot of stuff piled in his suite right now - random metal scraps that he's going to use for something eventually, the air conditioned tribble cages he made for Cinna, rolls and rolls of paper with designs and blueprints and outlines of all the things he wants to make, some empty cereal boxes because he hasn't gotten around to throwing them out yet UHHH. Spoilers his suite is kind of messy because even though he's a grown man no he's not he tends to get really single minded about stuff every now and then and when he gets into those moods he just kind of....ignores everything else. Like cleaning. Luckily he never really invites people over so they never get to see his pigsty of a suite. :'D He'll clean it up soon though.

The one exception to this not really caring about decorating rule is the picture of Cassie and him Dinah found during that last landfall/Sinbrilee thing. That picture is basically all of his feelings summed up in color on glossy photo paper and it's the thing he loves most on the turtle. It's in a nice frame that he bought and position on his workshop desk where he can see it all times (because he spends more time at that table than anywhere else) and if it ever goes missing or someone steals it he will literally freak out and spend the rest of the week hunting it down.

....Yeah, this wasn't very long SORRY.

Will Scott ever talk to John again?
What's the strangest thing he's seen since arriving (other than Poyo if Poyo)?
langsyne: (Default)

[personal profile] langsyne 2013-09-03 01:30 am (UTC)(link)
NO!!!

.....is what Scott would like to respond to that first question, but let's be honest he's such a pushover and a doormat that he'd probably end up talking to Colby at some point if the guy ever spoke to him for some reason. I don't think he'd initiate any type of conversation (at least not in the immediate future) but if push came to shove and they had to work together for some unfathomable reason Scott would just man up and talk to Colby. Really, he doesn't hate the man or anything, he just thinks he's a jerk and would rather avoid him at all possible because he doesn't like jerks.

Also giving someone the silent treatment is not a very grown adult thing to do and he is working really hard on acting like an adult. It doesn't always work, but the intent is there.

As far as weird things go.....he hasn't gotten out much so he hasn't seen too much. The tribbles were weird, definitely. Also sky bison are weird to him - he hasn't actually seen them but he talked about them a teeny bit with Toph and was weirdly fascinated by them (how do they fly if they're that big, isn't there some sort of law of physics banning that). Being an engineer (and being friends with lots of people who are geniuses at engineering and science and all those things) there's not a lot of manmade stuff that really surprises Scott. But weird funky animals and all those biological things are still pretty new to him and he doesn't understand how they work and that's kind of cool. Weird, but still cool.

Poyo was slightly less weird if only because he had metal bits on him and Scott actually does understand metal bits most of the time.
shorttempered: ([Mark] These fries are cold)

[personal profile] shorttempered 2013-09-03 03:01 am (UTC)(link)
Poor Scott. Colby didn't try to come off as a jerk, but well... he is a jerk so he can't really hide it all that well. Someone should force them to speak to one another in the future and settle their differences like adults.

Weird animals that defy physics are always weird. Physics are there for a reason, after all.
