[Dinah sits at the table much more casually, smiling at the waiter and ordering a drink and some appetizers for them both with enthusiasm. The food's not amazing during rationing, but she knows what is good.]

So, I guess I should admit here that I know very little about you. Which doesn't appear to be mutual?

[She lets 'Laurel' drop again at this revelation. Not only is Moira alive, but an acquaintance of Dinah's family? She's surprised, and it's obvious.]

[Though she couldn't help raising an eyebrow at the deliberate past tense.]

[In other words, the man was very much still alive. As far as she knew.]

[Moira being alive was one thing. Dinah never knew her to miss her, and could only understand in the abstract what Ollie must be going through.

Her father being alive...

...she covers her mouth with the fingers of one hand, for a few seconds speechless.]

I take it he's not where and when you're from?

[But neither is Moira, for that matter.]

I was fifteen. He... the job got him.

[Admittedly not his job. But people who know what business Dinah and Olle are in know what is meant by 'the job.']

It sounds to me like he was a dedicated Police Officer in any universe. You should be proud.

[Well, that clears a couple of things up: Larry Lance was a police officer, and Moira doesn't jump to 'Justice Society' reasons for 'the job.']

[Dinah shakes her head at the strangeness of the multiverse.]

No, not really.

But if that's your city and that's Oliver's city, then I can't imagine him anywhere else.

It's the only City we've ever called home.

I raised both my children there. Saw them become wonderful, beautiful adults. For all the horrible things that have happened to us in the last five years...it's that fact alone that often keeps me going.

[One could not deny that everything she had done since, for better or worse, had been for her children.]

[Again, Dinah hesitates. Much as she wants to know about the last five years, what exactly happened there, she focuses on that other thing Moira just said.]

[Plural. Ollie has a sibling? He's such an archetypal only child.]

[At least, this time, she was a little more aware of the discrepancy. Oliver had reacted with similar surprise at hearing of his sister.]

Yes. One of each. Oliver...and Thea. She just turned eighteen, and is every bit as much like her brother as neither of them will ever admit.

[She couldn't help chuckling. It was the only thing to keep her from desperately wanting to cry at just how wrong Laurel Dinah was. But she couldn't bring herself to tell her. Not so soon after they've remet for the first time.]

Far from it.

If anything, Oliver's the one who deserves most of the credit. Ever since he returned from the island, he's been...different. More responsible. A better role model for his sister than I could have imagined. [She paused] ...at times, possibly even a better parent than I ever was.

[Well, there it is. Actual mention of the island. Dinah's smug smirk fades, becomes softer at that reference.]

Yes, well. That island definitely changed him.
