Let's talk about money

Hey, people. Let's talk about some plot stuff right now.

Remember back when there were cracks in the turtle's shell and people totally weren't supposed to go sneaking around under it? Well Vic was one of the people that went sneaking anyway and ended up as part of a group that found a plot item...a book. A book nobody can read because it's written in some ancient language. He did find someone who can translate though, Lieuen. The only problem there is that Lieuen is charging a lot of money to get it done. 9500 juulan to be exact. He tried to raise some funds but didn't have much luck so he's trying a third plan. He went to ask Pepper to help out and the two of them are going to ask some more people. That's where other people come in.

Who'd be interested in donating some cash towards getting the books translated and getting some secret information in return? Because of how the book was found, they're not going to be too public about it so characters interested would need to be people either Victor or Pepper would trust enough to talk to in private about the book. But Pepper knows people and Vic's been keeping an eye on the network so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out a way for most people to get involved.

So, who would be interested in getting involved in this? Let's chat and plot things?

Gavroche doesn't QUITE know them, but he's very good at finding information, being a gamin. If there was some way for him to overhear or guess something was going on between them and then barrage them with questions, he'd gladly give some cash!

Hm, he'd probably have to be sneaking into private places to overhear things. Or just paying attention to how they're meeting with people in private rather than trying to do things over the network.

Anything remotely suspicious, and Gravoche is there--he can notice people meeting up to talk about something, but not quite know what that was. Sound good? I don't wanna step on your toes. xD;

Yeah he better! Between this and trying to earn as much money as possible so he doesn't starve, Santo's paychecks are mostly going towards caring for Victor!

Vanessa is someone Vic would probably tell about the book. They may not be close but she seemed like she was the trustworthy type and smart enough to know that the book is probably something they shouldn't tell everyone about.

Aw yes. Yeah, Vanessa knows that sometimes information needs to be held back for the greater good, or at least until it seems like the right time to reveal to everyone. Which is likely never.

Mark still has some money from helping with the satellite clean-up that hasn't given away yet that he'd be willing to give to the cause.

Vic'll be sure to thank him and include him in the list of people that get the information from the translated book. Mark seemed like a good guy to Vic from their encounter and he trusted him with the whole secret ID thing so Vic is pretty sure he's trustworthy.

I'm interested in getting Sabriel involved- She could donate money, or Tu Vishan beamed knowledge of Kedanese into her head, so she can help translate too.

They money would probably be the best bet. I think the mods said only Lieuen could translate for some reason or another though.

Good question. Does Sabriel know Pepper at all? If not meeting through her, maybe Vic could approach Sabriel in private saying he's been watching the network posts.

Sabriel hasn't been in contact with Pepper, but the second option should work just fine!

I know you already know, but I just wanted to post and say that Pepper is totally in for it. Even in Stark Industries can't do the backing she'll help in any way she can~

Vic knew asking Pepper was a good idea. Between the two of them with their own funds and gathering from other people, they should be able to gather enough to get this done.

Bruce would definitely do this, and he probably has a decent chunk stored away. He gets a good salary from SI and hardly uses any of it so he'd be perfectly willing to put some forward in exchange for the resulting information.

AND HE KNOWS PEPPER WELL so that's an easy in!

And Vic knows about Bruce being a smart science dude from back home too. No objections from him on Dr. Banner helping out. He might see Vic around the hydroponic garden too.

Costigan would also gladly help with this, if you need more peeps, and could potentially be invited through Bruce (hence the reply here) or Pepper. He has quite a bit of juulan to throw around and has some sketch sources where he could get more if needed.. like a lot more.

Vic probably doesn't have all that great of an opinion on her, but the Archive knows Pepper and I wouldn't be surprised if Pepper mentioned it to her given that she's super knowledge person? (HARU, IF I'M WRONG TOTALLY TELL ME.) But if she knows about it, Ivy'll totally toss some money at this project because ~knowledge~.

But yeah if she wouldn't have a way of knowing, that's totes cool with me, just let me know!
