How to play? So the bad news is your mentor and boss is a psychopath, but a psychopath geared to a very specific niche of people that you aren't a part of so you're perfectly safe in his company?? if that last part is even good news

in light of criticism (javert) amon thinks marius is a bright kid who cares about what he believes in and is someone whose own ideals mirror his own albeit still wildly different and far and away more idealistic/wide-eyed. Marius is basically the protégé he never knew he wanted, or needed, but he's useful to have around the clinic when he can't be bothered with legal work and it actually is nice to have someone to he can pass down all these neat Equalist tricks of the trade without being persecuted for it
