[Catty has her own reason to keep the handshake brief, angling her wrist so that the phoenix brand seared into the skin isn't quite as visible.]

Nice to - no, I said that. [Smooth, Turner. She decides to wave off his comment on her entrance instead] What can I say? I'm from Hollywood. We know how to put on a show.

[nowitsshowtime]

Ah, you're from America? Are you an actress? [He nods a little.] I do appreciate a good show.

[traitorously]

Born and bred! [That's a lie. She tilts her head to one side, toying with a lock of hair.] An actress? You could say that. [She's quick to turn the conversation back on him] What about you, where are you from?

[nowitsshowtime]

I could? [He smiles, slipping his hands into his pockets. Haruto rocks on his heels and smiles again.] I'm from Tokyo.

[traitorously]

[Catty winks] A girl doesn't give away all her secrets on the first meeting, even when she falls from the sky. Especially when she falls from the sky, actually. [She claps her hands, and then abruptly stops, because wow Catty that's sort of overboard] Japan! I've never been, what's it like?

[There's a kind of wistful tone to her voice. Being dead makes it hard to travel.]

[Haruto lets out an amused little chuckle. She doesn't seem like a Phantom so he's staying relaxed. When asked about where he's from, Haruto lets out a thoughtful noise and looks to the sky for a moment.] It's like any other place, I suppose. I haven't been other places to compare to. At least not until here.

[traitorously]

I don't know. Every place has its own weird quirks. This one, for example, is on the back of a giant turtle. I guess that doesn't apply to Japan, though. [She gives him a sidelong glance] What do you think of it here?

[nowitsshowtime]

So that's true? Hmm. [That's unusual even for a guy that fights monsters and uses magic.] It's an interesting place. Peaceful.

[traitorously]

From what I've been able to tell! It's pretty neat, when you think about it. [There's a pause. She looks away, turning her face up to the sky. That wistful tone becomes a little stronger] That's definitely a good word for it. I'd almost forgotten what that was like.

[nowitsshowtime]

[Haruto makes a little noise of agreement. He thinks the whole giant turtle thing is weird but he's keeping that to himself. Picking up on the wistful tone, Haruto watches a little more closely now.]

Your work keeps your busy and in one place? I know what that's like.

[traitorously]

[She's quiet for another moment, before nodding] It did. [Catty draws in a breath and that wistfulness seems to melt away, replaced by smiles again] And then I ended up here! Kind of a culture shock, to be honest. Although I guess the gangs are the same.

[nowitsshowtime]

I think we're all in for a culture shock when we come here. [He chuckles again.] The gangs are something for the police to worry about. [Not that he'd be able to stand by and do nothing if they were hurting someone.]

[traitorously]

Assuming that the police aren't corrupt, at least. [That's a cheery view on life, Catty] But then I guess we'd have more to worry about than just the gangs, in that case.

[nowitsshowtime]

It's too bad we aren't in Tokyo. I know a lovely detective who'd whip any police corrupt police force into shape.

We already have more to worry about here than gangs. I'm told we have to find jobs.

[traitorously]

[Catty opens her mouth and then shuts it again. She pouts a little] We do? [Guess who wasn't listening to orientation]

[And cue a slightly surprised Haruto.] You didn't know?
