TEST DRIVE

Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.
How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
- Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles.
- Tag around with everyone!
- Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle!
But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
- A Chance Meeting at the Turtle's Head.
Remember, being here causes a great sense of-- well, shall we say inner peace. - Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtleshell! - Hey, I Just Met You, and This is Crazy...
First impressions are always the most important, right? - WILDCARD!
Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the need to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Please note, Wildcard options are also what you can choose to do if you aren't yet comfortable in the Tu Shanshu setting and would prefer a more 'dear-mun' esque experience. Please specify in your post!
Lt Nyota Uhura | Star Trek reboot
[After just arriving, and unsure of her welcome (or of the applicability of the Prime Directive, for that matter), Uhura is doing her best to keep a low profile as she explores some of the more populous areas of the turtle. Most people seem human enough, but you might catch her listening intently to any conversations taking place in languages other than English - especially the kedan language.]
Option B;
[Today, dressed like a local, Uhura is in the marketplace, shopping for some groceries and maybe a few other, less-necessary items. She's speaking with the shopkeepers in their own language, albeit somewhat haltingly - for having been here for such a short time, however, she's picking it up very fast.
If she pots a nice pair of earrings, she might make a dive for them.]
Option B (kinda?)
creepystealthyrage filledpositively adorable little earth girl suddenly speak up from right beside you, Uhura.]Pardon me, but is it normal to want to stick foreign metals in your ears? How do you know you aren't allergic to...whatever that is?
[She's got earrings of her own, so it's probably a safe bet to assume she's referring to the material. Considering all the weird things around here
compared to her experience with Earth, she sees no reason to assume they're using familiar metals from earth.]yesssss
I can test them. [She touches the tricorder on her belt.] I don't have any allergies, but I'll run them through a scan before I wear them.
i did not want anyone going un-tagged, and just had to find an appropriate muse :>
[She seems to doubt the soundness of your reasoning, Uhura. At no point is she actually going to be fighting you for those earrings though. She just assumes they're something to wear to appear normal, and she's clearly got a pair already.]

Feels like gold, to me.
no subject
[She liked your scanning idea more than this "feel" stuff.
And while she didn't expect the question to come up so soon, she's nonetheless prepared for it.]
I'm observing. Or would you prefer I try and survive on my own? Because I certainly don't live here. I'm an outsider, just like you are.
[The kedan all tend to have visible quirks that differentiate them from humans on some level, and Tak happens to be particularly observant. Uhura lacks any. So the local dress isn't fooling her.]

Which, on some level, Uhura can understand - she likes a good, heated argument once in a while too. (Much as she loves Spock, sometimes it's really frustrating that he won't just get angry. Well, except that one time when he almost killed Kirk, but whatever.)]
Looks to me more like you're picking fights. Which, might not be conducive to survival, either, if you're not careful. You never know who you might be talking to.
no subject
Have you checked the food with that scanny-thing yet? That's a little more important than ear jewels, don't you think?
[Minor language slip-up, but Tak doesn't know it yet. Chalk it up to her version of Earth being weird as hell.]
no subject
Yeah, I checked it before I started eating it. Which I've been doing for a few days now. Eating it, I mean.
no subject
[It's more important than your stupid ear jewels,
you disgusting human worm-babyUhura, since she's literally starving. Because her race survives on carbs, especially sugars, and she's recognized pretty much nothing food-related here. WHERE ARE YOU HIDING YOUR CANDY, YOU STUPID KEDAN?! WHEN THE ARMADA COMES, YOU DIE FIRST.]The locals don't seem to have invented the candy store yet, and I have a bit of a sweet tooth.
[Operation SWEET AND PRECIOUS is go. Help her get what she wants and you can have the honor of dying last when the fleet arrives.]
Option A
and a bit scaredat the lack of response. He stops when he spots Uhura, heading straight for her.]Lieutenant Uhura! Thank Starfleet, it's not just me stranded here.
happy scream
Scotty! I don't suppose your communicator is working any better than mine? [She gives hers a little shake, because the stupid thing isn't hailing the Enterprise like it should.]

I think... I think that might be what's happened.
