Pixie is back and she's bringing with her Shayla-Shayla from El-Hazard. I have only recently noticed my habitual liking for characters with hyphenated names. This will be my second muse, my first being Lara-Su (neoguardian). Anyway she's from the anime series El-Hazard, I'm taking her from the OVA timeline which is one of many timelines depending on how you look at it. More specifically I'm taking her from between El-Hazard OVA 2 and El-Hazard: Alternative World...because wtf is Alternative World?

So in the world of El-Hazard Shayla is the Priestess of Fire and with the aid of her amplifier, the Lamp of Fire she is able to manipulate the element in a variety of ways. Fire dragons, fire balls, waves of fire to name a few. She has a fiery temper to go along with her flaming motif and she has a tendency to be very direct, but she's generally laid back and pretty friendly unless the right buttons are pressed (and lets face it, that's not a difficult thing to do). She enjoys gambling and she'll drink you out of house and home...oh and food as long as it's good, lots of good food.

Shayla will be located in the Fire Sector if you ever want to pay the firebrand a little visit.

El-Hazard is just one of those obscure little blips on the map that came out of the 90s. OMG THAT WAS FOREVER AGO!

Slayers is a pretty good comparison, yeah, I wonder if there's a connection...or it could just be the animation from the time period.

Yeah and El-Hazard is closely related to Tenchi as well, they do the cross-over thing. Pretty Sammy makes a cameo in El-Hazard.

I think only a handful of people have heard of El-Hazard. Me, Sker, and like...three other people lol.

I WAS IN IT FOR THE SAILOR MOON...and that was when it came on USA.

I shouldn't be this excited right now.

Yup and then you have characters from El-Hazard that appear in Tenchi like Fujisawa.

I'm suffering crazy 90s anime nostalgia too. Sorcerer Hunters was another favorite.

I've never seen Sorcerer Hunters and must now do so!

Oh man, definitely recommended, it's funny. Sorcerer Hunters used to get all the laughs.

Yeah, Shayla never did have the opportunity to get a formal education. Poor girl was dirt poor. Closest thing she got to an education was the abbey...so she's more street smart than smart smart.
