[Clark was doing Superman things when he-

Well, okay not really. He was just buying groceries at Clark Kent because he still has to eat. He's used to seeing many familiar faces when he's buying after spending months in this place, but he wasn't expecting to see her face. I had been years for him, so it takes a second for him to recognize her.

When he does he flies back home to get his suit in a blur, hovering to land in front of her.]

...Linda? [It's the only thing he manages to tell her.]

Also it makes her feel tough and after the days she's had she could use a little extra tough. But when she sees Superman she knows she can relax. It's an unexpected but not entirely unpleasant surprise. ]
