CR With Me | March 2013

Hello, chelonauts! This marks the start of our six-week interval for CR With Me memes!

As usual, when plotting out any CR potential, please be as specific as you can! 'Our characters should go for coffee next week' is going to help establish an idea of what sort of CR you're looking for better than 'omg tag me.'

Mind that the form is still a bit different, including the two recently added sections titled "Current Status" for a summary of what your character's been up to and "CR Goals" for the plotting and discussion of gaps in your character's CR spectrum that you would like to fill! We've also added a bit for plotting regarding the upcoming Decay of Tu Vishan event and longterm impact (rationing).

CURRENT STATUS: Optionally, you can give a quick rundown of what your character's been up to in the game and their short-term goals.
CR GOALS: What's your dream CR to obtain this month? Do you want to work on developing current CR or splash into something new?
SCENE-DOS: What sort of things are you looking to write with this character? Are you a prose sort of person or action spam all the way? Do you prefer network interactions to face-to-face? Do you like angst, fluff, drama, plot-based scenes, all of the above? 
SCENE-DON'TS: What sort of things are you a little more lukewarm about in regards to this character, or would rather flat-out avoid? Do you absolutely hate writing negative CR? Would you sooner chuck you laptop out a window before you write one more slice-of-life thread? All those considerations can go here. 
THE DECAY OF TU VISHAN/RATIONING: Do you have any particular reactions to the upcoming event in mind? Plotting directions? How will your character adapt?

A reminder that the main portion of the Decay event will kick off March 19th, but there will be longterm effects felt all over Keeliai -- so feel free to plot into the future!

CHARACTER: Dorian Gray
CANON: The Confessions of Dorian Gray
PERSONALITY: Hedonistic immortal antihero. He is selfish, self-centred, vain, arrogant, and amoral, just to start on his bad traits. But he is also an aesthete who loves beauty, learning, and mysteries, and he can be kind when it suits him. He soaks up experience like a sponge and is a total sensation junkie. He likes meeting new people and trying new things. He is also very attracted to the supernatural. His personality is very mercurial, so he might go 19th century charming gentleman on one person and 21st century callous bastard on another.
CURRENT STATUS: He is settled with a job and friends and a strange continued moral crisis. He is having slightly more success learning the language thanks to friends but not tons of it.
CR GOALS: Develop CR for sure, deepening the relationships he has (for better for worse) but new CR would be great too. Very open to both negative and positive CR. He tends to deserve the former a lot anyway.
SCENE-DOS: I find I tend to prefer face-to-face, though network is workable. I am into all the genres!
SCENE-DON'TS: Not many, especially for Dorian. He is pretty much available for the full gamut of human (and inhuman) experience.
THE DECAY OF TU VISHAN/RATIONING: I want to do something useful and helpful with Dorian! And he'd even vaguely want to be helpful but he has no idea how he could be (Useless Victorian Gentlemen R Us).

On a personal level, he is going to survive it (he has done WWII before, kids) but he'll probably be more reliant on sex and vampirism to substitute for alcohol and cigarettes.
ADDITIONAL: It's easiest to find him at night now, and only for certain hours. He canonically chooses to ignore pretty much the entire world once he gets Toby back into his life, so I'm making a conscious effort not to let him do that by trying to give him lots of outside things to keep him engaged.

uhhh specific thoughts, all my specific thoughts are 'eventual longterm' thoughts so I feel unhelpful. ...I assume Steve WOULD give that portrait back eventually in perhaps the most awkward thread ever? (see what I mean EVENTUAL LONGTERM I fail)

HE DEFINITELY WOULD. He would just not be sure how to do it since. Well. How does one go about saying "I accidentally found this extremely personal and potentially dangerous-for-you-if-others-knew-it-was-here thing that I didn't mean to see without your permission...."

Maybe exactly like that.

I am entertaining the thought that Dorian would possibly eventually ask Steve to keep it for safe keeping but then he also is like. 1) protective of his soul (duh) and 2) protective of Steve in a not-wanting-to-put-things-on-him way so he might not. But he might think about it!! Even if he doesn't act on it. /tells ALL THE THINGS to Jae

Well Dorian is certainly perfectly capable of being an ass if that is one way you'd like to shake things up! Uhh she still doesn't know about the immortality but I don't know if that'd actually shake things up.

And then facepalming. NO bring your other copies over and do a four man band with him stop hanging out with those losers! ...well R is not the worst option. (He is still looking at that post like "MAN BRYN YOU COULD DO BETTER")

Am actually thinking she might be irritable enough to snip at him but we'll see...

YES CERTAINLY he needs to meet his fellow countryman anyway!! a language party would be very good

Also, he can cook fish fancily for Temer. He is also snippity about his food.

OH AND!! If Dorian found out about Temeraire learning to read, he'd be willing to chip in to pay for it.

That would be great! Temrer's more than happy to teach people, he just figures he can get the hang of the language faster than most, haha.

That is probably true, hahah! Dorian has Decided on learning the language so he's digging his heels in and willing to take any means to work it out.
