oh the weather outside is frightful
Hey Turtleites! I come bringing some details of changes to come in the next few months. This isn't really a Massive Plotty Post because these are generally passive occurrences, but feel free to plot out here or ask questions as usual.
The turtle is heading into colder water. This means the temperature will start reflecting winter weather, there'll be occasional incidences of snow, et cetera. On average, sunny/clear days will run about -8C (18F) and cloudy/overcast or snowy days will fluctuate between -10C (14F) and -20C (-4F). Snow will come and go; there'll be a few inches on the ground at any given time, though the roadways will be kept fairly clear. It's been a while since the kedan have seen snow like this (ie: not caused by Jack or Ororo!) so there will be a few accidents here and there as they adjust to the slippery roadways and the colder weather.
Due to an ancient Farmer's Almanac, the kedan were forewarned about this particular downturn of cold weather, and prepared accordingly. All the harvests have been brought in, and properly stored for the winter, and although fresh fruits and vegetables will be harder to acquire, there are no shortages of food to be expected.
Warm clothing and/or vouchers have been made available at the clinics across the city. If your character isn't ready for the cheery chill in the air, they're welcome to find something in their size or claim a voucher for one of Keeliai's many tailors.
Items like snowshoes, and cross country skies will start cropping up or being made available in stores, for those intrepid people who enjoy their hiking! The outskirts of the turtle will have considerably more snow than the city itself, the mountainous regions will be prime for cold weather adventuring.
Characters might potentially come across very odd crop-circles outside the city, with one strange twist – they've been done in the snow. These symbols bear some resemblance to the runes used on the doorways, and there are residual lumps of strange metals that seem to have melted the snow in these patterns. Examination of these metals will show that it's nothing native to Keeliai, or indeed anywhere on Konryu. It seems to have the ability to disrupt magic, and it makes any sentient creature, regardless of design (organic, inorganic, etc) feel nauseous to have direct contact with it. The metal shimmers like mercury or quicksilver, and although it's hard externally, the inside is still liquid. It reacts oddly to magnetic interference (aka: it goes haywire in all directions and the metal will become malleable and spiky) and can't be used to build or shape anything. Attempts at hitting it with anything over a few pounds of force will make it liquefy. This metal seems to eat (and in fact grow larger) if energy of any esoteric sort is used on it (ie: bending, spells, Green Lantern construct energy, sea prunes— you know the deal). If characters take this metal home with them and leave it alone (ie: unattended) overnight, they may find it's shaped itself into something entirely new by morning, and will no longer cause the nausea of before. The shape it becomes up to player discretion, and will likely fit in with the character's own fashion sense or wants/needs. It may become a bracelet or a ring or a hairband, or a belt buckle or a fork. Something small, and relative to the mass of the initial piece. Once the metal takes its 'final form', it will lose the above properties and become essentially similar to a piece of cobalt that retains the quicksilver sheen. CHARACTERS CAN TAKE THIS METAL WITH THEM AT THEIR OWN DISCRETION. Having a piece of it may be a good or bad thing down the line, so keep that in mind that there are POTENTIAL CONSEQUENCES for obtaining a piece of it.
We ask that ANYONE PLANNING ON GIVING THEIR CHARACTER A PIECE OF THIS METAL sign up in the sheet below. We will confirm the submissions as they come in. THESE SIGN-UPS ARE OPEN UNTIL THE 17TH. Acquisitions of the metal may be handwaved at any point after that.

(I ask because if Aya is exposed to anything that depowers a Lantern Ring, she'll physically weaken as well, to the point of actually collapsing/fainting)

Character: Dorian Gray
What will the metal form as? How about a vaguely familiar shield? Of course, it won't have the paintjob or properties of Steve's shield, and it'll be thinner and smaller with the differences in the amount of metal available: just a circular, metallic shield, with the iconic pattern etched out on the surface.
