STOP, THIEF!

So who wants to get robbed?

The thing about Balthier and Fran is that they’re sky pirates. Soaring through the air, running away from bounty hunters, stealing things, and so on. But since there’s no airship for them to use and no one’s chasing them away, that just leaves one option for them when it comes to getting their thrills and having fun – and that’s stealing.

Raina and I were thinking of having Balthier and Fran start stealing things from the foreigner population, but we’re not about to just be like “HEY BY THE WAY YOUR STUFF IS GONE” because that would be rude as heck and also not okay in the slightest. So we’re putting this up to ask if anyone would like to have Balthier and Fran steal something from their character!

Aaand that’s pretty much it. If you want Balthier and Fran to take something of yours, just let us know these things:
Who they’re stealing from:
What’s being stolen:
Character reaction:
Are you okay with not knowing the culprits right away: (Don’t want to get caught on the first job, after all!)

Any other details (such as when, how, etc.) can be worked out from there. So yes! If you want something valuable or precious to be taken by a couple of sky pirates, let us know!

Who they’re stealing from: Makoto Kino
What’s being stolen: Her wrist communicator (instead of having a blue face it will have an emerald face). It doesn't work, but it's foreign technology with sentimental value...on top of that it's shiny...and emerald...and gold...so.
Character reaction: She'll be angry naturally, but being that she is Makoto she will give them a chance to return the communicator before flipping her skittles and hunting them down.
Are you okay with not knowing the culprits right away: Absolutely.
freeskies: Probably the hole in the wall. (Default)

Balthier and Fran will nab her wrist communicator at any point during this week then.

How do you feel about them selling it off, and Makoto finding it at a vendor sometime in the future?

She's not going to be happy about it because of the sentimental value and having to get it back, but I'm all for it XD

Who they’re stealing from: Midii Une
What’s being stolen: A small, golden cross on a matching chain. The cross itself is twisted and warped and even broken, having been what looks like glued back together...but it is made of real gold, and thus, still carries value.
Character reaction: She'll be incredibly upset over not being able to find it, possibly to the point of tears.
Are you okay with not knowing the culprits right away: Absolutely!

Balthier and Fran will nab her necklace at any point during this week then.

How do you feel about them selling it off, and her finding it at a vendor sometime in the future? Though, it is possible that they may return it due to the obvious sentimental value, but throwing out options...!

[personal profile] backwordscompatible 2013-09-09 04:40 pm (UTC)(link)
That's one option.

I was thinking that when she sees it missing, Midii would end up making a Network post asking if anyone's seen it. She'll know it was taken because she very rarely let's it out of her sight, unless she leaves it at home. At which time, if they see the message, they'll be able to tell how upset she is.

Deal!

When would you like me to have this fiasco occur?
unetrustworthy: (gathering supplies)

[personal profile] unetrustworthy 2013-09-10 01:38 am (UTC)(link)
Alright. I can type something up tomorrow.

Also, leaving it on her door handle would probably be fine. She'd be sure to see it, and it lends to their desire for anonymity. (She won't stop trying to figure out who took it, of course, but she'll be doing that quietly)

I'm really interested in this because then Javert has some thieves to prey on and distract his addled mind.

Who they’re stealing from: Javert
What’s being stolen: His silver snuffbox, half-filled with fresh high-quality snuff. It's his rare splurge item.
Character reaction: Annoyance then intrigue. What kind of thief would have the balls to snatch something from his pockets, unnoticed? How did he neglect to notice it? Very interesting and exciting for a wolf on the prowl. And if he were to ever catch you guys, he'd be way too sassy about it.
Are you okay with not knowing the culprits right away: I AM! But we should work out the details about this. Javert has a very odd and mystical 'sixth sense' about this kind of stuff, and we'd just have to figure how this would happen without him putting two and two together.
freeskies: Probably the hole in the wall. (Default)

[personal profile] freeskies 2013-09-09 03:24 pm (UTC)(link)
YES, working out the details is a good idea! Because we'd like to at least get them through the gang wars plot in October before they're found out. 1) So Javert and Lin have time to recruit people for the police force (Ireney mentioned something along those lines to me!) And 2) well. I like a good chase.

Otherwise, they'll nab his silver snuffbox at any point this week, probably closer to the end.

And it would get sold off, unless you would like us to work out something different! It's possible, Javert could find it at a street vendor next week, as well.

EEEEK I'm technically on hiatus right now but I know I owed you a response to this --

I spoke to Ireny about Lin and Javert being involved with the thieving and the gang wars that will follow, and we'll definitely be recruiting more people to join their "team" as things rev up.

We could handwave the theft itself if that is easiest and I'll definitely have javert discover his snuffbox at a pawn shop this week. If I can spare some time, I'll even make a post about it/contact Lin about it so we have something about these thieves rolling. We can discuss further details if you'd like! I apologize that I'm sort of MIA at the moment. I hope to be back up to speed once my life settles down at the end of the month.

Let me know what you would like to work out as handwaved/behind-the-scenes action for use in this event, and I'll be happy to work with you!

• Who they’re stealing from: Tony Chu
• What’s being stolen: Let's go for the old favorite: his wallet! (unless they'd want to steal his prosthetic ear which would be TERRIBLE AND HILARIOUS)
• Character reaction: HE WILL BE PISSED. Sure, the money and credit cards don't work here, but there's a picture of his girlfriend AND of his daughter in there. Also seriously he was a cop how did he not realize he was pickpocketed. B( He'll try to hunt them down for sure, possibly dragging his partner Colby around with him in the search.
• Are you okay with not knowing the culprits right away: Yes!! He's a fairly decent detective, though, so they'll need to be extra tricky.

They will nab his wallet at some point this week! However, it's not something they would typically take, so they'll leave it.

If you'd like, we can say they'd leave it where he'd find it a couple of days later.

• Who they’re stealing from: Sylar
• What’s being stolen: Anything from the following list; just let me know.
x1 badge, identifying himself as “Steve Donner” with Homeland Security
x2 handheld flashlights
x1 night-vision goggles
x1 binoculars
x1 radio with plain earpiece and mic (standard government issue)
x2 collapsed bungee rope segments, extending to 10' each
x20 industrial zipties
x1 Swiss Army knife
x2 tactical armor elbow pad
x2 tactical armor knee pad
x1 flash bang grenade
x1 Heckler & Koch USP (9mm)
+ x1 magazine, full with 15 rounds
• Character reaction: Depends what they take. He'll probably be pretty irritated, but not wholly furious. He may try to kill them when they're found out though (again, depending what they take.. I can give you 'more angry' and 'less angry' options if you like!)
• Are you okay with not knowing the culprits right away: Absolutely

So, of your list, we zoomed in on the last two items. Balthier's a gun user, so he naturally has an interest in them. And the grenade would just be useful. We can take only one, or both, depending on how you feel about it!

And if we can get an estimate of the reaction for those, that'd be great. Both of those items would likely not be sold off, though. So we can work through things on that end.
grayatonement: (the watch)

[personal profile] grayatonement 2013-09-10 05:40 am (UTC)(link)
Both is fine with me!

If the items are recovered, Sylar would respect their initiative and just be more likely to react strongly if/when they did something later. If the items disappear or are kept, he would probably try to rough them up, but not murder them or anything. This is also assuming no one else interferes; if they're sent to jail or someone else intervenes, he'll probably not do anything for now and just keep an eye on them.

How about we plan on him getting them back after the big gang war, when we plan on Balthier and Fran getting exposed? Little point keeping the gun when he's already got his own, his interests aside.

Sounds good! No rush on that at all; he probably won't even realize they're missing for awhile (until you guys want him to, which is completely IC).

•Who they’re stealing from: The Doctor
•What’s being stolen: So the Doctor has this super fun thing called infinite pockets so picking them won't be easy. They could literally come away with a handful of anything from sweets to a yoyo or a barbie doll. Or, more interestingly, they could get their hands on his sonic screwdriver. A handy-dandy tool that is capable of opening any door and scanning most items fo readings and information. Could be useful for them or fetch a cool price.
•Character reaction: He will go from bemusement to anger to panic to pointlessly flailing around in angst until he finds it again.
•Are you okay with not knowing the culprits right away: Yuuuup!
elevenoutoften: (W E L P)

[personal profile] elevenoutoften 2013-09-10 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, see, I imagine if he'd just used the screwdriver that it'd be at the top of the pocket so yeah. Let's say luck plays a part as well. Makes it easier C:

I don't have much of an issue how long it takes for him to get it back so if you have any desire to keep it for a little while then that's fine by me. It'd be his mission to get it back though so he would constantly be on the case. He might even try to track it with a newly created timey-wimey detector that'll be able to pick up on the faint signals of the sonic to find them. Or a ramblely network post to try and locate it.
freeskies: ... didn't love. (All the boys on the dance floor)

I would be so down for that. :> Let us have all your rambling posts, Doctor!
elevenoutoften: (Check it!)

[personal profile] elevenoutoften 2013-09-10 10:11 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh fantastic! This will be very brilliant! He can't wait to tell you two naughty little scamps off >( and give a long dull lecture of the importance of sonic tools and why they are not toys to be used for crimes.

When abouts in-game do you plan on pinching the screwdriver? Just so I have a vague idea?
freeskies: ... move fast enough (And the girls whose lips couldn't...)

[personal profile] freeskies 2013-09-10 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
We're doing all our small stealing this week, so you could say they filch it at the end of the week, and we'd like to use it for the big thing we're planning towards the end of the month. If that is okay!
