TERRY IS A PUPPY

Really she finds him - oddly endearing, in a way that makes her feel protective. But that doesn't mean she thinks he's helpless; she respects the work he's trying to do, she thinks it must be really challenging and occasionally dangerous.

He reminds her of Tim, a little. His reserved demeanour, his wry sense of humour, his awkwardness. That just strengthens her affection.

In the zombie attack, he clearly...had no idea what he was doing, but he was trying and that counts for a lot. It definitely raised her worry level, because ffs he could get himself killed, but - he'd be doing it trying to help people. And that's the way she died so it's not like she can throw stones.

So basically she likes him, she's intrigued by what he does, and she wants to make sure he doesn't get hurt. ~~No one else she cares about is allowed to die.~~

Best friend.

Before Steph, Cass didn't know what those words meant. She didn't know what it was to just - hang out with someone just because you liked them. To have fun with someone. Steph taught her so many things about the world, about herself, about being a person and not a weapon.

And then she was gone.

Cassandra coped because she couldn't do anything else. People still needed her. Losing Stephanie felt like losing her heart, but she couldn't let that destroy her because she still had work to do. Batman gave her an entirely new city, worse off than even Gotham.

And when she did fall, Stephanie was there to catch her.

It helped, knowing that her friend - her heart - was still there with her, some way or another. It helped her move forward, until the road ran out.

It was okay, that she died. She even found a new world to protect, and isn't that what she wants to do, more than anything? Best of all, she found Stephanie on the other side.

Except she's alive, and so is Stephanie. It took her a while to fully absorb that, to fit that knowledge into her view of the world, of herself. And then, finally, she was whole again. There were still cracks around the edges, still scabs around the wound, but she was whole.

She was desperately afraid of it happening again, at first, and a part of her still is. But she's seen Stephanie in action, now; she's seen Batgirl in action. Pride has swallowed a lot of that fear. She knows she made - will make - the right choice.

There are thing she's not quite so sure about. She never realised, before, that her love for Stephanie could be romantic. She's not sure what to do with that, especially with Brandon in the mix. Bruce was supportive, but not particularly helpful.

At the moment, she's content with keeping it to herself. Just the fact that Stephanie is here is still a bit fantastic and beautiful and wondrous to her. Their friendship is one of the best things in her life, and if nothing about it changes, that's okay.

Cass sympathises with Finnick a lot, even though their situations weren't really the same. As a result, she feels rather protective. (Okay, Cass feels a certain amount of protectiveness for everyone in a fifty mile radius, but beyond the usual.)

She thinks he's sweet, and she finds his careful charm kind of endearing. She definitely wants to get to know him better, and make sure he settles in okay.

BRUCE:

Dad.

He's her dad, and that's - it's still pretty wondrous to her, to think that. A part of her is scared that it will be ripped away, but the rest of her trusts him too much to be afraid.

There are very few people she feels so secure around. It's not something she needs, really; she's not exactly vulnerable, in most situations. But it's nice, feeling protected. Feeling safe.

She knows he can't defeat and defend everything; she doesn't think he's perfect, either as a vigilante or a person. Not any more. She's seeing him, more and more, as a human being, and if anything that makes her feel closer to him.

She knows he's made mistakes, that he does mean or stupid things sometimes, but she'll never think that makes him a bad person. To her, he's a hero; the ultimate hero, pretty much.

And he's her dad.

BRANDON:

Cass is so, so fond of Brandon.

She can see how much he's been hurt, even if she doesn't know why, and it makes her feel protective. She can tell he's a better person than he thinks he is, and that - it's a button for her, okay.

Most importantly of all, perhaps, he makes Stephanie smile.

When she finds out what happened...she'll definitely be cross with him. But she'll be worried, too. She won't hate him, because she'll know he didn't mean to hurt her.

REID:

Reid reminds her a little of Babs so that's automatically a point in his favour. He knows so much, and he's happy to share that knowledge with everybody. She likes that, even if she can't quite parse what he's saying.

And he's...not exactly like her, because no one is. But he's more like her than most people; he can see some of the things she does. And that's amazing.

Best of all, he's going to teach her things! Just because he can, and he likes her.

He's just nice, and smart, and she wants to know more.

And if anyone looks at him funny they're getting punted to the next sector.
