Steph has seem some pretty rough things, but she's pretty sure none of it comes close to what Katniss must have been through, and while she's curious about what all that is, she's also not sure she ever wants to know.
She's glad that she seems to have gotten through to her a bit, though? Despite being trained to handle trauma victims, what they're taught is usually geared towards short term - helping with shock etc - but she really wanted to make Katniss actually... like her, since it seems like the poor thing could use a friend. She doesn't want to treat her like a Problem That Needs Fixing, so much as just wants to give her something stablizing, in the way that a friend can be, even if they're not super close bff. She doesn't expect Katniss to trust her completely, but she hopes that eventually Katniss will know Steph is trying to do right by her.
