Devin was about to agree with Valdis on the matter of protecting people when the door opened. He turned to view the newcomer even as the mug shattered on the floor, judging by the way the man tensed that the vampire's presence was entirely, violently unwelcome.

There wasn't time to explain himself, as the man vaulted forward and some kind of bizarre weaponry formed at his fists. Devin has spent his life fighting, so it's with a calculated sort of calm that he dodged the strike, zipping across the room at inhuman speed to the point of being a mere blur.

"And a good evening to you as well," he remarked casually, holding his hands up when he stopped. "I don't recall doing anything lately that called for attempted murder."
