Miles watches him get up, and tries to struggle to his own feet. He gets the corner of the wall with his palm just fine, but as he pushes himself up, the stump where his left ring finger used to be grazes the masonry and he bites down on his lip, suppressing a scream. He half-leans against the wall, biting down instead on the fleshy part of his right thumb. He doesn't want to move his left hand, and honestly, getting his face that close to his other grisly nub wasn't the best idea, but that's the reflex of a man whose primary reaction - primary survival mechanism - is to keep quiet at all costs.
