Poe would be seconding the asylum as well, he believes all sentient beings have the right to live a decent life and thrive. Even if the Kin'nal are sensitive to temperature change and the risk of dying is high, he thinks it's still their decision to make. Human's aren't designed to survive in space either, and yet he gets inside a flying tank and messes around the Galaxy. Who's are we to judge after all? Humans are defined by their debatable decisions when it comes to survival too.

Since the Kin'nal are uncomfortable in direct lighting and heat change is bad for them, Poe would suggest using the caves and a temperature regulator. Back to space and all that: pilots use thermoelectric cooling, it assemblies chill fluid, which is circulated throughout a vest worn by the soldier or pilot. Poe probably knows how to make one of those work, if not he has his flight-suit here and can be used to figure out the technology.

It's no an ideal solution but it's a start since the cooled air systems are portable and the Kin'nal might be able to move around while outside the caves without dying instantly.

As for the Kin'nal's usefulness, they are good at working with equipment that needs to be regularly maintained so they could be useful in the Metal Sector?
