Peggy knew that if she was going to be able to learn more about her surroundings, one o the best place to go for information was a marketplace. As she browsed, she found a few things that she couldn't resist. A bouquet of flowers that reminded her of happier times back in England and some fruit that she was curious to try. Eventually, she found a stall full of bright colored fabrics and a hat that was trimmed with crimson ribbons that were the perfect shade of red.
She might be moving away from the patriotic colors that had been common in her wardrobe but the hat was irresistible. Even if she was slowly moving forward, that didn't mean she couldn't indulge in a few frivolities when red had always been her favorite color. "How much is this?"
2.
This was not how Peggy had anticipated spending the afternoon. Bad enough to chase after a thief in a city she knew but to chase someone through the streets of a place where she was a newcomer was nearly impossible. Or would be if she lost sight of the thief. At least there was nothing significantly valuable in her purse. But even without the possibility of losing a weapon or something more important, she wasn't going to back down and lose something from home to some thug who had decided she was easy prey.
Dodging between people who seemed to have a sixth sense for getting in her path, Peggy called out apologies, hoping that she didn't collide with anyone before she managed to catch the thief.
