Tess has gotten used to it - well, at least outwardly. Used to the crowds, used to being alive when she should be dead. Used to being here without Joel, for the first time in years.
So it's hardly surprising, when she feels a hand close around her arm, that she whips around, ready to yank whoever just grabbed her off their feet, her long-cultivated instincts coming to the fore.

Her anger dies with the words on her lips, and her eyes go wide in surprise at the sudden sight of him here, like some kind of goddamn miracle. As if her being here isn't already one.
