Can the blood-bond be undertaken at any time? Say, for example, Amelia picks the fruit but doesn't blood-bond with it at the time, but then later, upon seeing that the weapon doesn't work, chooses to initiate the bond. Would it still work, or is it too late?

Also, could she receive a Treasure Planet-style spectral flintlock plasma rifle from said fruit?
