ding dong...

So, Eshai is dead and the Alderwood Emperor has assumed command of Keeliai. What does that mean for the turtle, you ask?

Well, first of all: Asti. There is going to be a massive surge of emotion all across the turtle. It'll be a little too complicated for most people to comprehend but there will be feelings of despair and sadness, but it'll be followed by a sense of protection and safety/security as Asti tries to apologize for letting his emotions run away with him. This feeling will happen around six AM, so anyone who's sleeping will probably be jolted awake at this time.

Second of all: Investigations. As Foreigners are largely considered to be incapable of sneaking into the palace after the efforts of ASS, as heightened security measures were put into place at that time, Evandau is going to suspect it was an inside job, possibly a kedan possessed by Malicant. So while security will be a little heightened, most of it won't reflect on the Foreigner population.

Thirdly: The Barrier. Eshai put failsafes into effect that would preserve the barrier in the event of her accidental or untimely demise, so it will remain as it is at present.

Fourth: The Palace. At the time of Eshai's death, the walls of the white palace will have turned jet black, and they will be cracked and crumbled in places. It should be assumed that the name 'Malicant' will no longer be safe to say there, and so cannot be discussed anywhere on Tu Vishan.

Fifth: Arrival of the Newbies. As with the barrier, the newbies will arrive on schedule. This is not a permanent system, and will eventually degrade to the point of non-functionality, at which time other ways to pull people into Keeliai will have to be found. If your character would have suggestions or be willing to help try and maintain the process, have them contact the Alderwood Emperor, who has set up an IC Inbox for ease of communication in this time of dire need.

Sixth: General Atmosphere. The general atmosphere of the game – towards the Foreigners – will not change, but the kedan will be in a state of mourning. There will be small celebrations held in Eshai's name, and there will be Lanterns released into the air in her honour. There will be no centralized celebration, and while the kedan will seem a little sadder than usual, they won't likely discuss it with the Foreigners.

Seven: Malicant. Is cackling gleefully somewhere. Stay tuned for now!

Since now seems an opportune time (I'd meant to do this earlier, but life), I'd like to mention that since returning from landfall, Gene has been intermittently hovering over Keeliai at night in his Mandarin armor generally being an ominous-looking tool, and teleporting away whenever someone decides to investigate. So: prime suspect y/y?

Y'all can assume he's some manifestation of Malicant/connected to the death of Eshai if you wish.

Anyone else got any red herrings they'd like to use to throw the investigation team off the scent, however unintentional they may be? :3

Lin is also considering the possibility of it being an inside job--she already suspects Evandau (though she's smart enough not to say it out loud) and isn't discounting any other guards/whoever who might have been in the palace at the time, so there's that!
