Kyle's drawn to her for a lot of the reasons he's drawn to Guy - abrasive, badass, heart of gold, loyal, and caring. He knows she'll put him first even when he tells her he doesn't want it (but he needs that, on a subconscious level), or even when he lashes out at her for it. He's naturally p. giving but he also has to recharge his batteries and being pampered by his big sis is exactly where he can go for it :3 He's loath to admit she protects him (because he's a GL he has all this power ok!!) but that's what she does, and he loves her for it.
And then the Dreaming happened and now Shayera's basically stuck with him. She knows his secrets, she doesn't judge him for having them or reacting the way he does, and at the same time, doesn't let him wallow in anything as he's prone to do when he's moody and upset. She's just patient enough with his shit to call him out, or know when to hug him, and her tactic of slowly, incrementally feeding appreciation and approval at him is doing wonders for his self-esteem.
