There are rare and precious metals that can be forged with thought and will better than by any hammer, there are jewels and gems galore. Unlike normal gems, these ones are edible. A single gem can sustain a person for several days, and the taste is positively exquisite. The gems can also be broken and the filling spread over wounds to encourage faster healing.
Some of the ghosts may notice or comment to salvage efforts, but most would not be unduly bothered. They no longer need said items, so they might as well go to good use.
