Between knowing she's here via the prison break and future announcement of turtle decay/rationing, I really can't think of a reason Annabeth wouldn't try to make contact sometime after that, especially since she hasn't heard from Eva herself yet. (Also the cloning facility, once that gets out, too) She's not sure it'll fix the problem, exactly, but at the very least it'll be a piece Annabeth wants to figure out.
