GAME ITINERARY | FEBRUARY 2016

Hello chelonauts, here is a fresh new itinerary post! Previous months can be found under this tag.

Remember that the entirety of this month will be taking place with Tu Vishan beached on Tavimbi's shore, and so threads throughout the month can take place either in Keeliai or in Hatal. The full OOC writeup for Tavimbi is located here, including descriptions, images, and NPC contacts.

Here's what we've got lined up for February:

Weather

The persistent fog cleared up nicely when the Foreigners moved the turtle closer to land. While pockets of it can still be found in valleys, or occasionally in the emptier alleys in the city, Foreigners no longer need to worry about their abilities or tech shorting out just by walking through Keeliai.

Having said that, it's still winter. A cold wind blows in off the mountains of Tavimbi nearly constantly, bringing with it the occasional flurry of snow. It's not uncommon to walk outside and see icicles along the edges of rooftops, or small bonfires surrounded by huddling kedan. Hatal is the warmest place around, and many kedan take their families into the city as often as possible to make the most of the warmth.

Kedan/Foreigner Relations

Relations are at an all-time high this month. Not only have the Foreigners nearly single-handedly solved the problem of the pervasive fog, they've also beached Tu Vishan! With slow sinking no longer a concern, and a brand-new continent nearby to explore, many of the kedan are starting to see the Foreigners as precisely what Emperor Eshai originally intended them to be -- guardians and saviours. Everyone is eagerly looking forward to when the Foreigners manage to wake Tu Vishan up -- because, they reason, that must only be a matter of time.

As always, however, that's only one viewpoint. Though goodwill is definitely a majority opinion at the moment, there are still those sidelined kedan who are simply waiting for the Foreigners to mess up and reveal their true colours. The turtle slowly sinking was a problem that affected the Foreigners too, after all; it's little wonder they worked so hard to solve it.

Local Events

KEELIAI CLAN JAGAIZ - FEB 8-10, FEB 12-18

About mid-February, after much preparation, there will be two days of Jagaiz matches between the families of Keeliai. After hearing about the squabbles and infighting, the residents of Hatal decided they may as well offer their Jagaiz rings as a mediation point!

Though no one from Keeliai expects the matches to solve much of the lingering tension between the kedanese families, the kedan at large see it as an opportunity for training, bragging, and fun.

For those two days the Keeliai NPCs can be found, as guests of honour, at a series of games pitting their best fighters against one another (and occasionally a Jagaiz fighter from Hatal, just to mix things up and prevent matches from getting too heated). At the end of those two days, numerous kedan go home with prizes and satisfaction.

But those two days will also have consequences of their own, with an aftermath that will last for a week -- affecting many of the Foreigners as well as numerous kedan.

Log Note: Keeliai Clan Jagaiz will not have a mod-posted event log, but will take place on the 8th-10th. The aftermath plot will have a mod-posted event log from the 12th-18th, with more details at that time.

HAPOYELA'S BLESSINGS - FEB 25

According to the Sabonile priests, Hapoyela wishes to properly welcome the Foreigners and the kedan to the full scope of Tavimbi's hospitality, and has instructed the clergy to organize a suitably impressive celebration for the citizens of the oldest living Great Turtle. All Foreigners, as well as many notable kedan including the Family heads, are invited to attend a grand feast and celebration at the Sabonile Temple, one of the largest buildings in all of Hatal. The clergy has promised an evening of good food, lively entertainment, and the magnificent blessings of Hapoyela. At the same time, the Sabonile will be hosting a soup kitchen in the Temple's courtyard, feeding the hungry and the poor, as dictated by their

While those who receive an invitation to the event, which the Sabonile consider a sacred charge from Hapoyela, are not required to attend... it could be seen as a disrespect to their deity.

Log Note: The feast celebration will have a mod-posted event log, with more details and descriptions in the log.

NPCs & Families

While tensions between the families do find an outlet in the specially organised Jagaiz fights from the 8th-10th, there's a reason the fights have been organised in the first place. The Metalworkers and the Snakes in particular clash fairly frequently out in the open, following the examples of the interactions between Yunxu and Xuiyu. Their relationship has been strained ever since Tony Stark took it upon himself to help, and neither family head seems willing to let up.

TU YUNXU
Despite some rather vocal opposition to his public request for salt extracted from the fog, Yunxu has shown no sign of rescinding the offer of recompense. He does stay true to his word, however -- anyone who refuses to sell him salt is left alone. While the Snakes are still treated with wary suspicion by the majority of kedan, no one is robbed, threatened, or mugged (though occasionally persistently persuaded). Yunxu has also given Pepper Potts the questionable idea of starting her own rival law enforcement agency, and because she's taken to the idea with gusto, Yunxu is keeping a careful eye on any such related activities.

Day-to-day, Yunxu is more often found in Hatal than in his mansion in Keeliai. Anyone trying to talk to him will find themselves dealing with his right-hand Meisheng instead -- a surprise to anyone who's noticed her public absence for the last several months.

ZANRU/XUIYU
Despite the rising tension between the Metalworkers and the Snakes, Xuiyu doesn't seem interested in prolonging it; aside from the related network post, she doesn't generally engage in slandering the Snakes (any more than anyone else who annoys her in any given moment, anyway). Any Metalworker who starts a fight is punished, though Xuiyu doesn't penalise anyone for defending themselves.

If anyone asks, she's blase about the existence of the tension, content to assume it'll blow over. She will be surprised by anyone who claims that she's acting especially coldly toward Yunxu, since most of the rumours about her feelings about him are second or third-hand (no one, apparently, has bothered to ask what she really thinks). She doesn't hold grudges, and expects her people to do the same -- which is probably an overestimation of their graciousness and an underestimation of her current status as a role model.

Though Zanru still hasn't come out of hiding, Metalworkers have claimed to see her in Hatal, usually in the mechanical sectors and talking to the Sinayg.

HEOJIN
The Woodsmen are simultaneously reserved and not this month. Hatal's hydroponic technology is of great interest to them, and likewise Keeliai's slightly greater source of meat is of trading value in Hatal. As a result, there's a good deal of exchange between the two, and it's not uncommon to see some of the Muin on Keeliai's farms, and Woodsmen in the Reservoir level in Hatal.

But aside from business transactions, the Woodsmen seem to prefer to stick close to home this month. Few of them will say why, but it's apparently not for any grim reason; in fact, they're more likely to crack grins, jokes and childhood stories than not.

Heojin himself is once more not very visible, and most of the business transactions are overseen by Ran, who consistently grumbles that 'this is not his job'. Still, he does fairly nevertheless.

MILYN
Milyn's clearly excited to be somewhere new this month, as is evidenced by anyone who happens to be in earshot getting treated to one of her energetic chattering conversations about everything from the architecture to the precious adorable Muin hairstyles to the shine on the quain beads. She will be spending a fair amount of time in Hatal herself, although she does make sure to keep up her house calls in Keeliai, particularly for those who aren't as mobile. She's also quite interested in the Reservoir Level's unique method of growing food, and will be inquiring all over the place as to whether such a system could be created on the small scale, as it would be a great benefit for her to be able to maintain some of her harder-to-find reagents used in her apothecary.

AROYAN
Aroyan is extremely busy this month, so much that the Foreigners may actually have a hard time getting a word to him otherwise! Although he's only one of the council of the Merchant's Guild, his expertise in dealing with the Foreigners' financial and legal needs have put him forefront for also dealing with the various organizations within Hatal. Aroyan, as well as the other Guild members, are looking to secure both immediate trade deals with Hatal, as well as laying the foundation for more long term agreements. Anyone who can help facilitate this will surely be looked upon with favour by the Guild in the future.

Economy

Economy is on a stable and encouraging rise owing to the active exchange of goods and services occurring between Keeliai and Hatal; being a multiracial continent, the people of Hatal are less insular than other continents the turtle has visited. Some new vegetables may pop up in stalls here and there, or methods of cooking more common in Hatal than in Keeliai. The Woodsmen, especially, are monopolising on the trade, while the Metalworkers seem more interested in an exchange of information and blueprints than actual technology -- for the moment.

The College, too, is attempting to break into the trade of information, but the kinks in their administration are still being worked out and they're less successful than the others; but, on the whole, are seeing some returns.

Of course, the Merchants' Guild is the one regulating most of the policies. Though Keeliai doesn't precisely have a customs system, the Guild is rising to the challenge, and thanks to their recent experience with regulating the salt, will manage to prevent any huge issues during trading.

Crime

Crime is very unremarkable this month. It's on a rise from when the fog was keeping everyone indoors, but it doesn't rise into dangerous or notable levels, especially since thieves and smugglers are more likely to focus their attention on Hatal for the duration of their stay in Tavimbi to avoid the Snakes' watch. There are, however, a spate of minor break-ins, even in Sky Sector, and there's some violent crime in the poorer sectors of Keeliai - though none of the violent crime targets the Foreigners unless a Foreigner willingly involves themselves.

Technology

Technology levels remain consistent on the whole while the various factions feel out each other's willingness to outright trade tech. The Metalworkers, especially, are reticent to reveal much of their more advanced technology, and for the moment it's a trade more of information than advancement.

That being said, the Woodsmen will be slowly experimenting with hydroponic technology in their greenhouses, thanks to the Sinayg, with the result of marginally increased yields in select crops (while the testing phase continues.)

In the meantime, thanks to the recent explosion in the College's public lab, the College has put on hold their efforts to create steam-powered items. Instead, inspired by the Xojan, they're looking into wind-powered flying machines -- though they will assure anyone who asks that steam-power is by no means off the table.

So that's our outline for the month of February! If you have any questions about these happenings, please use the Questions comment below. Otherwise, this post is free space for monthly OOC plotting.
