TEST DRIVE MEME - TU SHANSHU EDITION!
Itching to try out writing a character? Then rev up your engines, grab your accounts, and slam your way into this meme! Here is a venue for you to try out whatever character there might be tickling your fancy, from fandom to OC, for as few as one and as many as MANY. Seriously, there's no limit.

How do you partake in this fantastic congregation of character testing? Why, by following these simple steps:
→ Comment with the journal of a character you want to test; put their name and canon in the subject line for added sparkles.
    → Tag around with everyone!
→ Profit like you live on a the back of a turtle!
→ Maybe even RESERVE so you CAN live on the back of a turtle!
But wait, there's more! For the low, low price of $9,999.99, you can even use one of our handy prompts when you tag someone. You could even pick one with a Random Number Generator to help decide which prompt to go with!
  1. Haggling Over Something in the Marketplace!
Maybe someone else saw the exact same shiny thing you did at the exact same moment! However shall this be resolved? Remember: blood is extremely hard to scrub off of turtle shell!

  2. Dramatic Chase Sequence!
You're running away from something! It could be anything, from a rampaging kirin to a gaggle of overly enthusiastic children! One way or another, you can't stop, and much like a katamari ball, you feel obligated to grab everyone in your path along the way to keep them out of danger! Or perhaps you're more the sort to try and knock them into it as a distraction...?

  3. Where There's A Will, There's A...?
The Life and Dreaming Planes have been merged, and sometimes what start out as wishful thinking becomes lured into reality. That slick new motorcycle or pile of kingly treasure you were just daydreaming about? Surprise! Though it may only stay for a short while before it disppears again, so make it count. Hopefully you're not the type to daydream about terrible things befalling people you don't like...

  4. SECRET UNDERCOVER MODE ACTIVATE!
The three major kedan families all have their own agendas, and you've chosen to entangle yourselves with one (or more!) of them. Are you hoping to shift the balance of power? Gain some favours? Perhaps you're on a mission to bring a criminal to justice, or maybe you just want to get the cream of the crop from the black market.

  5. WILDCARD!
Go nuts. Suddenly your character is fighting dragons! Good God, they've found the Millennium Falcon drifting in the ocean! Do you really feel the need to polish every paving stone in the Earth Sector? Please note, Wildcard options are also what you can choose to do if you aren't yet comfortable in the Tu Shanshu setting and would prefer a more 'dear-mun'-esque experience. Please specify in your post!

Crime isn't something Akito is overly concerned with anymore - not since contracting with Yunxu and Zanru, at least - but he does keep a close eye on the world below him while running packages to and fro. If he sees anyone being harassed, kedan or otherwise, he'll make sure to do what he can to help. Akito may be small, but a life spent training first with SWAT, then with his teammates, and finally on his own for a war in this other world... Well, you learn a thing or two about how to use your build to your advantage.

Which is why the kedan chasing the obviously new foreigner find their paths suddenly blocked by four feet eight inches of not dealing with this bullshit today with the biggest, brightest smile stretched across sharp canines.

"Hi! It's really nice of you to show the new guy around, but I'm sure you don't mind if I take over now, ne?" Akito chirps, voice somehow equally as threatening as it is cheerful. "Because you're doing a really bad job and I don't think his suit appreciates it."

Now, Akito could scare them off with a small kick of air pressure as he normally would, but as he recently received a scroll that re-gifted him with Waterbending he decides to have a bit more fun than that. He Bends the water he has in the skein at his side until he can freeze it into various needle-sharp icicles to float by his arm, which he has held out in front of him. Index finger, middle finger, and thumb held to mimic a gun.

As soon as one of the kedan decides he isn't a threat and takes a step forward, Akito shoots one of his ice bullets at the man's face with a 'pew', but stops it just shy of impact.

"If you wanna play Cops and Robbers I'll be the cop, okay?"

That seems to do the trick, and the group scatters. Knowing that he only has a very limited time each day to Waterbend, Akito quickly melts and Bends the water back into his skein with a sigh. "Ne, Suit-san, it's all clear for you now!"

It takes Alistair a handful of seconds to realize that he's not hearing the pounding of footsteps behind him anymore, that he's hearing a voice instead. Someone intervened? Thank God, he...

...is that a child?

The scene behind him is so completely strange that after he's skidded to a stop, Krei actually finds himself stepping back toward it. Granted, he's been saved by kids before--teenagers and young twenty-somethings, more like--but this kid isn't even as tall as Hiro Hamada, and Hiro had been part of a group. A superhero team. This kid is alone. As much as Krei doesn't relish the idea of bringing the crowd's attention back down on himself, he can't just stand here and let some child draw their ire to save him.

He's not that self-centered, not matter what Callaghan seems to believe.

He's just about to call out to the kid, to assure him (her?) that everything's fine, he can handle this, when the Waterbending starts. Krei's eyes go wide; for all that today has been full of strange places and confusion, this is the first overt use of... Christ, is that magic? By the time the group has dispersed he's slouched against the wall of the alley, one hand on his forehead, trying not to hyperventilate.

"I've gone insane. I've gone completely insane."

Oh. Well. Akito supposes that answers the question of whether or not this guy's world has magic. And he supposes he can't really blame him for the reaction, though he does find it a little bit melodramatic. He's trained for panic attacks before in basic first aid, and has had to use them on himself at times as embarrassed as he is to admit it, even to himself.

In any case, he has the knowledge and ability to help, and Akito isn't about to let this guy hyperventilate in a back alley all by himself.

"Hey, hey, breathe in for seven seconds okay?" He'll even count up to seven, perfectly timed to the second. "And breathe out for eleven..." He does the same for the exhalation, then repeats the process as many times as he needs to until he's sure the man won't keel over or something.

As utterly bizarre as this day has been, Krei actually manages to swallow his pride for just long enough to nod to the kid, inhaling and exhaling for one full round before lifting a hand to wave him off. He's not going to have a panic attack, not yet. Not out in public at any rate.

And maybe when he wakes up tomorrow morning this will have all been a bad dream. Or maybe it will start to make some actual sense. He'd really prefer the former.

"Thanks," he says finally, nodding to the kid. "Thank you. For that..." He waves in the vague direction that the altercation had taken place. "That. Whatever it was."

Please don't say magic. Please don't say magic.

"Waterbending," he supplies carefully. "You could say it was a Trojan horse rather than a gift. Situations changed though, and now I would call it a gift."

More explanation than strictly needed. But words are good to cling to when you're nervous. It's even clearer to him now that this man is new. So new Akito wouldn't be surprised if the oxygen from his home still feeding his body.

"You're in the city of Keeliai, on the back of Tu Vishan, who is... Um. Basically he is a very large turtle. The local people are kedan, and they can shapeshift which is disconcerting at first. Their attitudes toward people like us, who have been taken from our homes," - Akito gestures between them with his hands, not out of need but because it makes him more comfortable to be moving - "have improved over the past few months, but are still not very good. I don't know what people are told when they first wake up here anymore, but, um. Whatever piece of jewelry you woke up with on your person, keep it safe."

He fixes his mussed hair with a sigh, straightening fly away strands. "This isn't a dream. There is a chance to go home, but no defined method yet. It's completely random. There is an entrance in each sector to the Midnight Hotel, run by a man named Anton. You can stay there free of charge until you get on your feet. Um... I dunno what else to say right now."

So Akito will just... Sit down casually on his knees, legs splayed out on either side of him. More comfortable than seiza, and easier to rise from than sitting cross-legged.

"The first thing you should do is get clothes that blend in better. And winter is almost over, but it's still cold, so you'll need a warmer jacket..."

Realizing that no, this man is not suitably dressed for the cold, Akito unwraps his scarf and hands it over to him to use. It's not cold enough for frostbite right now - not after the guy's body was heated with adrenaline - but he'll likely be feeling it soon.

"I don't have any runs until later tonight so I can buy you an outfit that won't get you beat up. You'll just have to pay me back sometime."
